Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Great place
This place is really nice. The rooms are very nice and getting a king bed in Costa Rica can be difficult without going to a big box name hotel. We did pay to have William pick us up at the airport and it was well worth it. Getting around in CR can be a little difficult since they don’t use street addresses like in the states. So this took all the stress out. If you are wanting to do tours William can handle all of those for you. A small restaurant is in the works and this will add a nice touch to the small hotel. We were only here for an overnight stay, but we would definitely stay here again if given the chance. William’s dad was such a pleasure to talk to you. We enjoyed our time talking to him. Any questions William will help you.

Near perfection
On our room: Spacious studio with a comfortable KING bed. Very clean throughout. Big scenic windows for viewing the countryside from any angle. Nice coffee station and refrigerator. Double sink bathroom nice touch as was traveling with my wife. Super large tiled shower so very roomy.
Grounds: Home is on a nice route and gated so very secure. You even get your own remote. Lighting is very good after nightfall. View from the balcony is awesome. We could and did sit often on balcony sipping on coffee watching the weather/view change. Property has coffee fields all around so gorgeous.
Host service: William runs the business and takes care of all your needs. Each morning starts with a wonderful fresh fruit and yogurt with granola breakfast and coffee and orange juice and its included. He does offer a menu for a more substantial meal if desired and offers dinner too.
What made our stay outstanding is that William made himself available for our every need. He took us on a guided tour to Poaz volcano and La Paz waterfall and nature park. His English is excellent and service and hospitality second to none. We'll stay again on our next trip.
Oh and he went out of his way to meet up with me at the airport and return my watch which I had forgotten. Someone else may have kept it. Awesome host.

Bill's house is stunning!
Bill's place is close to the airport and better than staying in the city when you arrive and plan to explore around. The house has stunning views of the city and coffee farms next door. The unit is tastefully decorated, clean, private and has air condition. Bill helped us book our tours and gave us a ride to the airport. We hope to be back again. ~Pura vida

Much better experience than a traditional airport hotel
We stayed for a night before flying out and had no complaints...breakfast cooked by the host, a ride to the airport, a balcony view of the coffee plantation below, ample space, reasonable prices, and friendly service. For dinner, we walked a couple of blocks to the only restaurant nearby, Pandora, to enjoy a good meal and excellent pina colada in a pretty indoor/outdoor space. This is a good option if traditional/generic airport hotels bring you down.

Beautiful!
Great place! William was a great host, full of information and suggestions. Absolutely beautiful view, a great bed, great windows looking out at the scenery, and everything else you would need for a great stay (kitchen, wifi, AC). If you are a light sleeper bring earplugs as it's by a busy road. Was a better option to stay in Alajuela than busy San Jose and closer to the airport. Alajuela was the perfect size and had plenty of great restaurants.

Clean, modern, accommodating and very comfortable!
I've stayed at Ruta Verdad House twice this past year. It's a well-priced gem 20 min away from the airport. Clean, quiet, safe and the owner William has such a fine eye and attention to detail - it really shows! The rooms have character with funky art, bedding, and a cool modern shower.
The beds are soft and comfortable. It's a great place to stay for a night (or a few!) if you're flying in or out of San Jose and want to recharge.

Perfect Gateway to Poas, coffee plantation and waterfalls
This lovely little Bed and Breakfast was a fabulous beginning for our second Costa Rican adventure. After experiencing the hustle and bustle of San Jose last year we decided we wanted something more rural and pastoral. Ruta Verde house is perfectly situated for an easy night or two on your way to all your Costa Rica adventures. The proprietor, Bill, will meet you at the airport and strive to meet your every need. Not only is he an accomplished chef but a knowledgeable tour guide who’s family goes back several generations in the Alajuela area. After graciously meeting our very late flight, Bill was up early the next morning preparing a delicious breakfast for us. He then took us on a full day of adventure starting with a visit to the Doka coffee plantation, Poas volcano and culminating in the fabulous La Paz Waterfall Park. After such a full day we relaxed in our second floor suite where we had a beautiful view of the sunset and the city of San Jose against the distant mountains. After our day in the cloud forest we fell instantly asleep in the comfortable bed. The next morning I enjoyed coffee on the lovely outdoor balcony where I was visited by a beautiful hummingbird. After a delicious breakfast Bill delivered us safely to the airport for our in-country flight to our next destination.
