A beautiful, well-maintained little villa in a very tranquil setting, a few minutes from the town centre and all amenities, but secluded and peaceful with a pretty garden. A nice pool just off the patio, which we had mostly to ourselves. The villa is spotless,...More

About the neighbourhood
This cute holiday destination is located on the shores of the fjord like natural channel called Calbis in ancient times, which links Lake Koycegis to the sea. Whilst Dalyan is now a total holiday destination, as the area has been declared by the state as a special protection district, this has ensured that the area is proteced from excessive development and its natural beauty remains. The natural channels make this an ideal fishing and boating area, with sailing to the 12 close islands a favourite boating expedition. Dalaman river rafting is also great for the more stout hearted. Common tourist sites include the ancient city of Caunos and Lycian Rock tombs (directly across the river from Dalyan town), or a short boat trip to Turtle Beach and the Sultaniye Thermal mud baths (said to remedy rheumatism and have anti-ageing properties).
Getting around
Dalyan has good bus links to either the beach or the nearest town of Ortaca.Ortaca has excellent bus links and from there it is possible to get a bus to many areas of Turkey. Car hire is relatively cheap in Turkey, although driving there is not for the faint hearted!I've got used to it now and have hired a car on several occasions no,which has been great as there are many places to see in the area and good to be able to do them by ourselves. There are many travel agents around the town that run excursions, and its a case of shopping around to get yourselves the best deal. Taxi ranks are dotted around Dalyan and are relatively cheap to use, although we tend to use them for journeys to and from the airport only.
