Holiday Rental House
The two-bedroom Kupu Kupu Villa (Butterfly Villa in Bahasa) is located in the prosperous little village of Nyuhtebel on the outskirts of the coastal village of Candidasa on Bali’s mid-east coast. Approximately one and a half hour’s drive from the island’s domestic and international airport, this part of Bali still rates as relatively undiscovered compared to the hustle and bustle of ‘the south’. Kupu Kupu Villa provides access to real Balinese village life while still being within easy walking distance of numerous top-class restaurants, cafes and local warungs, the beach, shops and ATMs. All you need for a fun-filled, relaxing holiday. The Regency of Karangasem, with its beautiful capital of Amlapura only 15 kms away to the north, offers some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving in Bali, trekking in the rice-fields, swimming in the cool waters of the Royal water palaces, fishing, surfing and numerous other activities...or you can just chill out around the villa’s pool or have a relaxing massage on our private massage table. Nyo, the manager, can arrange any of these activities for you. Sitting on the side of a hill above the neat and colourful village of Nyuhtebel, Kupu Kupu Villa is accessible by steps and a new pathway, but has no direct road access so may not be suitable for the physically challenged or very young children. BUT, you only need to be moderately fit to enjoy what this delightful property has to offer...beautiful views over the verdant green rice, corn and vegetable fields and coconut plantations, the sparkling ocean across to the islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, colourful sunsets and the sacred and revered volcano, Mount Agung. And that’s not to mention the village of Nyuhtebel itself. From the expansive decks or by taking the short walk down into the village you will experience the whole range of Balinese village life and all that entails...visually and musically colourful religious ceremonies, the laughter and enjoyment of children (and adults!!) playing or heading off to school or work, their beautiful smiles and welcoming ‘pagi’ (good morning) as you walk through the village to the warungs or German Bakery for a Bali coffee and cake, the squealing of the pigs and the crowing of the colourful roosters. Look out for the local monyets (monkeys) as they raid bananas from the warung or offerings from the temple just below the villa. This is the real Bali travellers have been coming to the ‘Island of the Gods’ for decades to experience. Transport from/to the airport (or elsewhere in Bali) can be arranged by Nyoman, the villa's friendly and efficient manager, as can tours to the numerous provincial attractions. What Nyo doesn't know about about the region and Bali generally isn't worth knowing. He and his beautiful wife, Wayan, come in each morning to serve you your complimentary breakfast and service the villa. Nengah is responsible for the pool and villa maintenance. Staff are on-call at all times but live off-site so are not at all intrusive on your privacy and relaxation. Nyo and Wayan will also cook up a traditional Balinese feast for you during your stay at a very reasonable charge. Nothing's too difficult for them to arrange. The pool is a little deep so is not really suitable for toddlers. The villa is better suited to families with older, water-aware children or a couple or two. While the villa consists of two, self-contained units (upstairs and down) including self-catering kitchens, if you are just a couple wishing to rent one room, the property will be yours exclusively. Rates are determined by the number of guests with the basic price being for a couple using one bedroom only. Additional guests pay on a per person basis. The upstairs bedroom is air-conditioned as well as having an overhead fan. The downstairs bedroom has an overhead fan. However, the property is relatively cool given that it is elevated and receives coastal breezes off the ocean only 200 metres away. Please note that two guests, not being a couple, wishing to use both bedrooms (upstairs and downstairs) will incur a small additional charge of $AUS10 per night (the total for the two rooms then being $AUS100 per night). Again, while the villa is set up with a queen-size bed in each of the two bedrooms, additional children can be catered for. Contact us for information. Guests are advised that, in order to comply with local Tourism industry regulations, they are required to provide a copy of the details page of their passport along with Rp50000 (approx $US4) per adult at the time of checking in. A refundable $AUS100 damage deposit is also payable.More

About the neighbourhood
Our villa overlooks the prosperous village of Nyuhtebel, adjacent to the coastal township of Candidasa in the province of Karangasem, eastern Bali, approximately 90 minutes by road from Denpasar airport. It is within easy walking distance of the beach, numerous restaurants, mini-marts, ATMs and all you might need for a relaxing Balinese holiday experience.
How to get there
Once you have booked we can provide contact details for Nyoman, our manager, who can either arrange transport to the villa for you or provide directions to your driver. However, most guests arrive from the south so as you get to the southern entrance to Candidasa you will see open rice, corn and vegetable fields on the left just before flashing lights at the corner of Jl Tenganan which you turn left into. There are a lot of billboards at the corner. You only go 80 to 100 metres up the road and you will see a concrete driveway on the right immediately before a sign saying Pura Giri Natha Batu Gede ( the name of the temple above the villa). Drive about 200 metres up the steep driveway and stop before driving onto the roof of a house .
