Three miles from our home is the scenic Lake Drive with a variety of restaurants, gift shops and galleries on the way to Nuevo Arenal and the Arenal Park. Tilaran, the regional center, is a short drive by car or bus. The Liberia airport is just over an hour by car and another 30 minutes brings you to the Pacific coast beaches. A number of ex-pats have settled in the area. Our home sits high on a private landscaped acre with flowering plants and fruit trees and offers modest comfort rather than the luxury of a fancy resort. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed; the other two bedrooms each have a single. The spacious living room has views of Lago Arenal and the northern volcanoes, and the covered patio with fireplace is a wonderful place to watch the birds, the farm across the road and village life. The kitchen is fully equipped and the linen closet is well stocked. Our friendly and knowledgable property manager, Coryn Wallen, will stock the refrigerator with basic supplies such as milk, bread, eggs and coffee prior to your arrival. More

About the neighbourhood
The house is on a knoll at the edge of the charming village of Tronadora, with woods and farmland to the rear and in front, views of Lago Arenal and the northern volcanos. It's a 5-minute walk to the well-stocked village market and light dining and a 10-minute drive to the area's best restaurant and the scenic Lake Drive. Frequent bus service runs from Tronadora to Tilaran and from there, to all of Costa Rica. Our neighbors are a mix of Tico and ex-pat , along with some cows and of course, the birds. Right in the neighborhood is La Reserva, a private preserve and wildlife corridor where Roberta gives a wonderfully informative tour. Rafting is close by at Corobici (near Canas) or in the La Fortuna area, both within an hour. Recommended day trips include the Arenal Park and Observato...
How to get there
Easy Drive from Liberia south on the Pan American Highway to Canas, then east on the Lake Road through Tilaran and south a few miles to Tronadora. A rental car is nice if you want to travel around but is not necessary for a stay at our casa and we would be happy to give further directions and tips on using the bus.
