Chateau de Cautine is located in the Limousin region of central France, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It lies 500 metres above sea level, in the heart of 30 acres (12 hectares) of parklands and forests, in the midst of quiet, deep-green nature, surrounded by hills & mountains, forests & lakes.

The chateau itself is a rare example of a Templar chateau in original condition and contains many artifacts dating back 400 years.

The chateau can accommodate 20 people. It has been restored with elegant soft furnishings and original antiques. There are 9 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a large dining room and living room and a farmhouse kitchen equipped for 20. It is full of original antiques, cosy furnishings, sleigh beds and open fireplaces. The rooms are tastefully decorated, all with lovely views of the fields surronding the chateau. Lots of outside space and nice walks. The owner Ruth is passionate about...

We decided to get married in France and Chateau Cautine provided a beautiful and natural setting for the wedding. Ruth was very helpful and generous and kindly had great recommendations for restaurants, markets or good places to visit. There is wifi in the main house on the ground floor which was invaluable, and the kitchen has lots of crockery, cutlery,...

About the neighbourhood
This 17th century chateau is set in a tiny hamlet and enjoys being very private - the road which approaches the chateau just passes one house so there is virtually no through traffic. The nearest road is a very tiny one right off the beaten track making it incredibly quiet here so that you mainly here the birds singing, the wind rustling the leaves of the trees and the laughter of your family and friends. Within the 27 acres there is a valley, streams and woodland all accessible to explore. Outside the chateau grounds and an easy walk away is a lake you can swim in and a tennis court. A short drive away is a fabulous little restaurant which makes pizza's amongst other dishes, and you can collect your food to takeaway too. The nearest village is about 2km away and you can use the bikes... more
