Los Laureles - Roof Top Apt Amazing Views of Castle/Mountains El Torcal/San Juan

Condo/Apartment -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 3
Antequera, Costa del Sol, Province of Malaga, Andalucia
GENERAL: Antequera is a marvellous City full of History, Architecture & Religious buildings. It is apprx. 45 mins drive from Malaga. We are in the Barrio (Hamlet) of San Juan de la Salud y de las Aguas (St John the Baptist) & Patron Saint of Antequera. At the foot of the Roman/Moorish Castle (Alcazaba),with views of the incredible Torcal Limestone Mountain Range. We are in the Monumental Conservation Area of Antequera. The house is on Cuesta Real which means The Royal Street as this was the 1st street built outside the Castle Walls. All the merchants & pedlars would be waiting to sell their crafts/produce/animals. The Apt was built with the following 2 things in mind, considering we have two 30+ daughters & over 65 ourselves we wanted to provide something different, A) for the more mature guest a place to have a stress... This is REAL OLD SPAIN. Perfect as a ´Pied de Terre´ to Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda & Malaga, as they are equidistant from us. Antequera is known as The Crossroads of Andalucía, The Heart of Andalucía. You can also take a train & the soon to join us MEDITERRANEAN ROUTE, from Barcelona following the East Coast to Malaga. The restoration work is fantastic emulating the original. Activity File: with leaflets & information like rock climbing, rambling (have 2 sets of sticks), riding, etc. El Camino del Rey (just restored), at El Chorro is a must (if you are not afraid of heights? We are here on the premises 24/7 or on mobile/Cell Phone.

About the neighbourhood
San Juan is in the Monumental/Conservation Area of Antequera so very strict Building Regulations are in order, known as a White Town. The door and window surrounds of the houses are usually painted in Orange, this is to ward off evil spirits. Since we arrived in 2003 we have seen many changes. Initially it was like stepping back in time by 30 yrs. Now, we have huge advances medically, technologically, sports, families, to mention a few. Yet, one still gets these little pockets here and there where time has stood still, and it is wonderful to see and partake of that experience. Everyone is very helpful here, even more so if they see you trying to speak their language. Barrio (hamlet) San Juan (St John the Baptist), who is also the Patron Saint of Antequera, is a 5 mins walk (but it is a st... more
Getting around
We suggest you have a car, but sometime we prefer not to. As on the train from our new Station Santa Ana & the soon to join us 'Mediterranean Route'. Coming all the way from Barcelona following the Coast line to Málaga. Opposite us is the Bus Stop with an hourly bus to the town centre. A Taxi from anywhere in Antequera to here costs around 5,00 - 6,00 euros: if it´s from the Industrial Estate or Hospital it will be slightly more. We also have a local tour bus. So you can go around first and priorities which places to see according to their timetables.decide which things you would like to see later.

How to get there
Airport: Málaga Costa del Sol (Andalucía): 45.0 km
Railway: Antequera & Santa Ana: 16.0 km
Ferry: Málaga: 45.0 km
MALAGA AIRPORT - We send you a detailed route: Map & written instructions on how to get here. Just as an Overview Malaga is a 40 mins drive from Antequera, mostly dual carriageway. Follow the motorway signs for Sevilla and Cordoba all the way from the airport. After approx. 40km the motorway goes up a long, steep incline and near the top splits. Right is signed Granada, and straight on is to Sevilla & Cordoda which you should follow. After 13 km the motorway starts to go steeply downhill through a wooded pine area. About 2/3 of the way down you will see a RH slip road clearly marked Antequera. Follow this road towards the approaches to Antequera through a large Industrial Estate, heading for the Town Centre You will see the Castle on the hill as you reach the town (we are behind it)... more
