The Gildhall

Overview
Cottage -
3 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 5
Nayland, Babergh District, Suffolk, East Anglia, England
The Guildhall is a beautifully preserved 16th century thached cottage located in one of the most desirable spots in the picturesque Dedham Vale- Higham. The garden is enclosed with mature trees and shrubs, offering excellent shelter and sun spots for outside dining. In keeping with the style of a farmhouse kitchen, the Aga offers warmth and atmosphere to this room, whilst the vaulted ceiling gives plenty of light, bouncing off the ancient Suffolk brick floor. A spacious Dining Room, offering seating for 8 guests is perfect for some good old country hospitality. Even better when you have the services of a Private Chef on board. A cosy log burning stove just adds to the magical setting of The Guildhall. A spacious sitting room with plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs in close proximity to a woodburning stove is the best place to relax an... Read more

About the neighbourhood
We are just 60 miles from London, the local mainline train journey to London is a mere 45 minutes and a car journey takes about an hour and a half.

Suffolk has retained an unusually strong independent rural atmosphere and one of the great joys of the area are the beautiful little hamlets that even locals get lost getting to though the meandering 'spiders web' of tiny lanes and byroads. Many of these villages are wonderfully preserved in their medieval origins, our local village of Lavenham being a fantastic example.

The area is very rich in History from the Saxon treasure of Sutton Hoo and the rebel Queen Boadicea who defeated the Romans, right up to the many expeditions of Settlers leaving for America.

The landscape and the Architectural beauty of the area has long inspired Ar...
