Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Cute place with great location
This is a great little place to stay only a 5 minute walk to the main high street of wells. The place was very clean upon arrival, and provided everything we needed. We didn't cook, so the kitchen was a little untested. The place can heat up very quickly (which is great), but with mostly tiled floors, the floor remains cold so bring your slippers. The church is opposite and the bells do ring, so they can be slightly disturbing at night (not much), and for me I love a dark bedroom which this doesn't offer with very light curtains. I'd stay again for a weekend trip!

Lovely accommodation in a great location in a fantastic holiday spot.
Mousetrap is a 10-15 minute walk to the harbour and a good selection of pubs and restaurants. With parking for two cars, plus on street nearby, we found it easy to unpack, pack and access our cars, with our baby grandson and our stuff. The kitchen is well stocked, and so many teas, coffees and wine was poured. The hob and oven take a bit of getting used to, compared to our gas at home, but are very efficient. With a family bathroom, separate shower and toilet in the "east wing" we found it easy for the four of us, plus little on, to get ready for our days or evenings out. Carl very kindly supplies washing liquid, some laundry tablets and scrubbers so don't bother taking them with you. There is cutlery and plates applenty. The location, near a very nice pub, but with an amazing short walk into town (close to the co-op as well), meant we quite often left the cars behind, even walking all the way to the fantastic beach, and added nicely to our step count. As we had a baby with us we had a few takeaways, fish and chips, co-op ready meals and a much recommended big plater from The Crab House, there was loads of seafood, and it accommodated us nicely round the large table. Do watch out it is an old rustic, slightly uneven top so mind your wine glasses on it. As for location we spent 3 afternoons on th beach, but you are close to some great places to visit, RSPB Titchwell, and of course Sandringham. We will definitely be going back to Wells, and when we do will try to stay at Mousetrap.

Back for a third visit!
We’ve just returned from our third year in a row visiting this lovely holiday let - and are already in the process of arranging our fourth in 2020! As ever, a clean, homely, comfortable property that we really enjoyed staying in. The location is just perfect for what we want - which is a gentle walk into the delightful town centre and a longer stroll along the promenade to the beach. Read my other reviews for more - we all love this place! This year we had a really enjoyable boat trip from Wells Harbour Tours - which is well worth doing and great value. The newly opened Maltings is also lovely - very informative museum with great fishing game for kids and a nice cafe / bar too.

Second visit in a row and even better than before!
We loved The Mousetrap so much when we stayed there for the first time in 2017 that we quickly booked to return in 2018. It was brilliant to return to the cottage, which is in a fantastic location just a few minutes walk from the town centre and quayside. The cottage was again lovely and clean and superbly equipped with everything you need for a lovely home from home. The recently redecorated bathroom is a great addition and has a lovely big bath my two year old daughter loved splashing around in. The cottage itself is very spacious and the bedrooms are nice and comfortable after a day in the sun at the stunning Wells beach. I think it’s safe to say will be returning in 2019! One quick hint if you’re visiting Wells - try the dresser crab from the stall on the quayside. Delicious.

Thanks for a great review Tom. Glad the bathroom renovation proved to be worth the effort. The Dressed Crab from Frary's is a delicious treat and worth visiting Wells for. They are caught locally just off shore and prepared at the end of the harbour. Look forward to seeing you again soon....

Wells - delightful as ever
The weather was perfect. The cottage was homely, cosy & clean. It was perfectly poesitioned being only a short walk from the centre of Wells. It was the perfect bolt hole for a getaway. The family enjoyed the peacefulness of the cottage. Try BANG in Wells for a coffee or snack; it’s great! We would certainly like to return to the cottage as it was so lovely for us to be together as a family. We really enjoyed ourselves, in fact we didn’t want to come home!!!

Perfect Break
The cottage was in a perfect location opposite the Church and walkable to town. Although the cottage is not advertised allowed me to bring my two toy dogs who slept in their baskets down stairs which I thought was very kind. The cottage was cosy and warm and we had all we needed. The bed linen and bed was superior to all the cottages we have been to as I love cotton sheets. I would definitely stay again. Thanks Carl for a great Christmas break

A lovely cottage with modern kitchen equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday. The décor was bright and clean and the beds very comfortable. The location meant you could walk into town within a few minutes, perfect if you want a few drinks with your evening meal! Also a bonus to have parking for two cars.

Lovely cottage, ideal base........................
Arrived to a very clean well equipped cosy cottage ideal for 5 adults but would suit 6 adults with no problem at all. Everything provided , including new dishcloths, wash up liquid, BBQ stuff ( replace if used), logs if needed (we didn't), and so on. Main bathroom very slightly dated but very clean so OK. Beds, bedding, towels immaculate. Wells is pretty and you can walk everywhere from the cottage ( one of our party has mobility issues but had no problems) Supermarkets ( 2) very close by. Pub virtually next door. Beach a bit of a walk ( scenic ,flowers, boats) but railway or car park available for tired legs. Nice cafe at Beach Thanks Carl for a lovely week.

About the neighbourhood
The Mousetrap sits opposite St Nicholas church at the bottom of the 'old' High Street. Walking to the quayside (less than 10 minutes) through the narrow alleys, flanked by colourful seaside cottages is an experience in itself. The quayside is a hive of activity - fishing boats bringing home their catch co-exist with kids crabbing and people eating fish and chips on the harbour wall. Quayside cafes and shops create a pleasant hum of activity whilst the Albatross, a quaint Dutch Schooner offers pancakes and drinks...there's no where else like it!
Getting around
The Coasthopper bus service operated by Stagecoach, runs between Kings Lynn and Cromer, with key station stops at Heacham, Hunstanton, Holkham, WELLS, Blakeney and Sheringham. You can buy a ticket for a single fare between 2 points, or you can buy 1, 3 or 7 day hop on-hop off tickets. With a frequent timetable, it's a perfect way to cost effectively explore the North Norfolk coast, especially if you don't have a car.
