Took the whole family including a couple of under 4s for a ruby wedding and birthday celebration over a long weekend. On arriving the house certainly had the wow factor and the décor is stunning. All six bedrooms are beautifully furnished and the master en-suite is unbelievably huge. There is ample space to get lost and there were 12 of...

We have stayed as a family in several large holiday homes during the past 5 years and this was the most disappointing and most expensive. The house was spacious and bedrooms comfy but when paying £1,000 per day, we expect cleanliness and surroundings of a high standard. The 'welcome hamper' consisted of 4 items of which the chocolates were out...

Management response:

First complaint we have had for five years, for which we apologised. But, the comments are unfounded. Springfield has 20 man hours of cleaning between each set of guests and is presented to the highest standard. A standard that we personally supervise.

Arrive at your stylish retreat via Silver Street and through the walled garden or front door on Woodmead Road or through the garage doors near the car park. The front door leads to a stunning double height entrance hall with classic Georgian curved staircase and large windows. Staying downstairs we look at the living space and going upstairs we explore the bedrooms. Most rooms in the house have sea views – the higher up you are in the house, the better the view.

Living Spaces
You may want to get waitrose to deliver groceries so you can prepare meals in the well equipped kitchen with 2 ovens, 2 fridges, 2 dishwashers and plenty of other goodies. Breakfast and kids meals are great at the kitchen table with the larger dining room table able to sit all guests. After meals, the snooker room a...

About the neighbourhood
Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands, Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now its a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by. The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink.
Getting around
The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendour and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. And art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries

Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places.
