Primitive Methodist Chapel History Opened in 1858 this was the first Primitive Chapel in Staithes. The Old Chapel offers cosy, luxurious living for 8 (or 9 at a pinch) in 4 bedrooms. The old village is a very special experience for your Yorkshire Holiday and has a unique character, beloved of Captain Cook and Old Jack (of Old Jack's Boat fame). The Old Chapel is a well equipped gem and the perfect place to exhale for family, friends, kids & dogs....Primitive Methodist Chapel History Opened in 1858 this was the first Primitive Chapel in Staithes. We had a super stay at the Old Chapel Staithes. We were all very comfy and cozy. The house was a great space with a quirky lay out. It had everything we needed and more.

About the neighbourhood
Out and about around the area there is Whitby, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood's Bay, and Goathland with its steam trains and Heartbeat connections. Scarborough is just an hour away. Middlesbrough is around 40 minutes away for great shopping. Sandsend and Saltburn-by-the-Sea are also just down (and up) the coast and are lovely little seaside locations. This is just a small selection of recommended visits in the area.
How to get there
From Whitby - Staithes is about 10 miles North of Whitby on the East Coast 1. Take the A174 heading North which will be signposted to Saltburn 2. Pass through the villages of Sandsend and Lythe 3. Continue through the village of Hinderwell, Staithes is about a mile further on 4. Don’t be put off by the appearance of the Boulby potash mine, you can’t see it from the lower village and it provides a lot of employment for local people 5. Once in Staithes upper village take the second right hand turn, this is opposite a house with a glass turret on its roof, the road is marked by a white signpost labelled ‘Staithes’ 6. Go straight across the mini-roundabout down the steep bank to the lower village 7. The Old Chapel is on the right
