Town: Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Tiny, awkward unsuitable space - certainly not suitable for a winter break.
Whilst the location is excellent in the heart of the village and close to amenities and the general internal decor is good, the property is tiny and awkward with a very tight spiral staircase connecting first floor living accommodation with ground floor/basement bedroom and shower/toilet. The property is now showing signs of age with peeling paint externally, rotten window frames, damp patches, stained settee and grubby, failed sealant around the kitchen worktop and sink. Whilst the views are lovely, they are difficult to see through windows constantly covered in condensation. The ground floor access door is extremely difficult to open though is the only sensible way of getting in bags/clothes to the bedroom level. Heating is unsatisfactory with a combination of a storage heater and electric fan heaters. The heater in the toilet/shower is intermittent and the space is therefore very cold given it is in a 'basement' location. The toilet leaked. We had mixed weather and there is nowhere to dry wet clothes - not really a winter property.
