Thank you for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Thornhill and look forward to welcoming you again.
Gairloch is a charming village set on the west coast, surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, and wild mountains. The awe inspiring Torridon mountain range acting as a dramatic back drop.
There is a good selection of shops in this small village as well as excellent restaurants, bars and cafes within walking distance of Thornhill.
Sea temperatures are slightly elevated by an extension of the Gulf Stream, which passes this region and makes the climate more favourable than other areas of Scotland. Two of Gairloch's beaches are designated bathing waters.
This beautiful region of the North West Highlands is a unique area, where palm trees and rare plants flourish; the nearby sub tropical gardens at Inverewe are well worth a visit.
There is only a very basic public bus service in Gairloch and we therefore recommend visitors have their own form of transport. The area is hilly, but fit cyclists will enjoy travelling locally by bike. For the less mobile, or go further afield, a car is needed.
