I could write forever about how wonderful this place is, both the cottage and the location. The cottage is one of the best I've stayed in - think boutique hotel style and you wouldn't be too far off and the photos don't do it justice....More

Thanks for the review Pete. It was great! Thanks also for the heads up about the TV. I had the man down from Stornoway to get the dish realigned, but the storms lately must have knocked it out again

About the neighbourhood
Harris is the perfect holiday location for outdoors activities. There are wonderful routes for hill-walkers, both difficult and easy, giving spectacular views, with opportunities to see eagles, deer and historical remains. There are lots of guided walks available which can explain the intricacies of the natural and cultural heritage.
Trips can be made to the remote islands of St Kilda, loch or sea fishing can be hired or sea life tours taken around the east coast bays.
Cycling and surfing are increasingly popular, and surfing is now beginning to take advantage of the long Atlantic rollers which constantly break on the west coast. Simply sitting on a sand-dune or boulder listening to the sounds of the island can be the most relaxing and spiritual experience.

How to get there
Airport: Stornoway: 79.0 km
Ferry: Tarbert: 16.0 km
Cuckoo Cottage sits above the world famous beach at Luskentyre. It is easily accessed by car ferry and air.
By Cal Mac Ferry (0800) 066 5000 it is only 15 mins from the ferry pier at Tarbert (from Uig, Skye) and an hour from Stornoway (Ullapool ferry). Cars from North Uist will take 20 minutes from Leverburgh
By Air to Stornoway, from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness (FlyBE) or Aberdeen (Eastern Airways), it is very easy to hire a car from Mackinnon Self-Drive (01851) 702984, who will deliver it to the airport and pick up after your departure.
Unfortunately, despite an otherwise excellent Island bus service, Luskentyre is 2 miles from the nearest bus stop.
