The dinning room is an attractive space and sits a further six. The living room has a wood-burning stove, comfortable sofas and a large flat-screen TV (smart-TV and satellite). Of the four upstairs bedrooms, one is en suite and one is set up as a kids room. The attic bedroom above the kitchen has a double-bed, the kids' room has a bunk bed and the other two rooms have twin beds. The living room sofa also doubles as a bed for extra guests or those who find stairs difficult. All three bathrooms are equipped with modern showers. Whether you are looking for relaxing family orientated activities or more adventurous outdoor pursuits, Stoer is the perfect base. There is a beautiful white sand beach less than 250 m from the front door, and two others within 3 miles. There are many easier coastal walks, with fantastic sea views across to the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. The quiet single lane roads around Stoer are excellent for cycling and provide spectacular mountain and sea views. Several tour operators offer boat tours out of Lochinver, pony trekking, and various other activities, such as Lama trekking. The area is popular for fishing. You can fish for Brown trout on any of the smaller lochs for free, and salmon fishing is available on Loch Assynt and the River Assynt. There is also excellent sea fishing. For the hard-core outdoor enthusiast, you can hike up Sulliven, one of Scotland's most remote summits, or any of the other hills to the north and south. The coast is superb for sea kayaking (kayaks can be rented locally), and the area is well known for rock climbing. Excellent longer cycling trips can be made along the coastal roads. The house comfortably accommodates six adults and two children (or other similar arrangements), but could fit more at a squeeze. With assistance a wheelchair guest could manage the ground floor and use the sofa-bed, but the house is not strictly wheelchair friendly. All bedrooms are fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Pets are permitted, but smoking is not permitted in the house.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Perfect getaway from it, beautiful beaches and iconic mountains on your doorstep
Location wise this is perfect for exploring Assynt, 2 amazing beaches within 15 min drive and Suilven and Canisp a mere 30 mins away. We were six men up for a walking break and accomodation was perfect, spacious and clean. Mixup with the handover date but the host sorted it straight away Will look forward to booking again Regards

Wonderful house, beautiful scenery
We booked Stoervilla for a family visit with friends and dogs. The cottage was clean, spacious and well looked after. The kitchen was very well equipped, which made catering for our large group easy. The living room had a wood-burning stove which was lovely to gather round and wet day. The WiFi also worked great (a big relief for our teenage children). The weather was a bit unkind to us, so we were very glad to have such a nice house to stay in. When we did get out the scenery was simple amazing. We took long walks along the shore and the peat road with our cousins' dogs and the kids had a go at kayaking. We also tried our hand at trout fishing and one day we made a boat trip out of Lochinver. The younger children really enjoyed the beach, of course, although it was too cold to swim for more than a few minutes. We will definitely be coming back then next time we are in the UK.

Stoer Villa 2 week stay
Stoer Villa has a spacious living area, all the facilities anyone could need, clean well equipped kitchen, an excellent heating system, and is at the top of the village where phones work! Great location for nature fans, and the brock was interesting too. Sheep kept invading the garden despite the gates being closed, walls need to be higher. But why worry, they keep the grass short. The standard of cleanliness was excellent, all the bedding crisp and white. Mattress on the double bed over the kitchen was in need of replacement though, not comfy at all. All the singles were fine. Plenty of parking space. Lots to do on wet days. Great showers. Overall, well worth the money.

Rubbish weather, great house!
Fantastic house in a great location. Would definitely recommend it (and will hopefully return). Only thing I’d change is getting some black out blinds as it gets light really early.

We can certainly put in black out blinds. I presume you mean on the windows because the skylights have them.

An interesting and spacious house in a wonderful location.
Stoer Villa is a great house for a family of eight people. It is really spacious and well equipped with interesting books and quite different games which were good for our older children. Parking at the house is more than adequate. The location is excellent especially if you are interested in walking, climbing, swimming, paddle boarding, fishing and of course wildlife. There is so much to do in the area and our whole family certainly want to return. The local man could not be more helpful.

Great fishing and walking location
Rhett, the owner, could not have been more helpful and responded quickly to any questions. Property was ideal for our needs - fishing and walking. The online photos are an excellent guide to the property.

Great place to explore Assynt
We spent two wonderfull weeks in the Stoer Villa. The house offers everything you could want for a pleasant stay: a well equipped, kitchen, enough place, a nice fireplace and stunning views. The landscape is simply beautifull, the house is a perfect base for exploring Assynt. Communication with Rhett as well as the key hand-over was always simple and perfect. So I would recommend Stoer Villa to everyone who is looking for a quiet, wonderfully located and comfortable place in a stunning nature.

Great holiday in lovely area
Several friends rented Stoer Villa for a week of walking and cycling. It is a spacious, warm and well equipped house. We had fantastic weather which added to an excellent week in this beautiful area. The owner and local contact person were very helpful.

Beautifully peaceful
A really wonderful week, with just about everything you could need. No DVD player or really large casserole dish, but we didn't need the former and managed without the latter. Watch out for the steep staircase up to the room above the kitchen - more ladder than stairs. But plenty of room with a lovely large kitchen, dining room and sitting room. Good showers, but no bath. Really excellent fire, which together with the central heating meant we were toastie even during the stormy weather. A beautiful place and a lovely house. We went with our four teenagers and they have all asked to go back again! What more can you ask? Beaches close by and lots of places to visit and eat out. Owner couldn't have been more helpful. Really loved it!

About the neighbourhood
Whether you are looking for relaxing family orientated activities or more adventurous outdoor pursuits, Stoer is the perfect base. There is a beautiful white sand beach less than 250 m from Stoer Villa's front door, and two others within 3 miles. The area is popular for fishing (see 'assyntanglinginfo' website). You can fish for Brown trout on any of the smaller lochs for free, and salmon fishing is available on Loch Assynt and the River Assynt. There is also excellent sea fishing. There are a couple of small shops and restaurants (including a famous pie-shop), and a petrol station in Lochinver, which is 7.5 miles away. However, guests will probably want to stock up on supplies in Inverness before arriving. For further information see the Lochinver section of 'undiscoveredscotland' website, the 'discoverassynt' website or TripAdvisors 'Top 6 things to do in Lochinver'.

How to get there
The nearest airport is Inverness. To get from the airport to Stoer, first take the A96 towards Inverness city, then turn north along the A9, over the Kessock Bridge. At the first roundabout after the bridge, take the A835 exit to Ullapool. From Ullapool continue to follow the A835 and then the A837 to Lochinver. About 1/2 mile before entering the village of Lochinver, there is a turning to the right (B896), which is sign-posted to Stoer. This is a single-track road with passing places. Continue along this road, following signs to Stoer, for 7 1/2 miles. Stoer is a small hamlet about 1 1/2 miles after the Clachtoll caravan site. Stoer Villa is the second house on the left and the parking is beyond the house, behind the old stone stables. From Inverness airport it takes approximately 3 hours by car to Stoer. There are daily buses between Stoer and Ullapool, and from there to Inverness. However, we recommend the visitors plan to bring independent transport to maximise their enjoyment of the area.
