Such a cute cottage in a beautiful location.
The hosts were so kind and friendly and gave us lots of information about the cottages history. They are such an interesting couple to speak to.
Our dog, shadow loved playing with Denis in the garden and her naps in the sunroom.
We're hoping to visit Plockton again soon.

Cottage with a view
Just back from a fabulous week at Rhu Cottage. I fell in love with it from the pictures. They didn't do it justice. The view was just awesome. So tranquil and relaxing watching the little boats on the Water. My favourite room in the house was the front porch. Sat there for hours of a morning and evening enjoying breakfast and early evening drinks. Denis and Kate were the perfect hosts. Such a lovely, genuine, kind and thoughtful couple. We were left a welcome basket of bread. marmalade, milk, butter and eggs. An array of cleaning products, kitchen and toilet rolls and fresh flowers in both the lounge and kitchen. The cottage was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need and had combined the modern comforts we take forecasted alongside lovely original features and touches. It took me back to my Gran's house as a child in a wonderfully comforting and relaxing way without comprising on what we take forgranted. Kate and Denis lived next door but you'd never know. We had occasional lovely little chats when we bumped in to each other. Luna settled in so well. She was so relaxed and chilled and loved the fuss Denis and Kate made of her. We could not have wished for a better place to stay and were sad to say goodbye

Lovely cottage in idyllic setting
Rhu Cottage, Plockton, is one of the nicest and most comfortable cottages I have ever stayed in. It was well equipped and had a fabulous view over Loch Carron. Our kindly hosts lived next door and could not have been more helpful. Plockton is a pretty town in the midst of wonderful scenery, ideal for walking and exploring, and for visiting Skye. There are a couple of good pubs which do amazing sea food, and an experimental gin and whisky distillery. I would come again.

Rhu Cottage Plockton
My wife and I spent a two week holiday in Rhu cottage in May 2022.
The cottage is situated at the top end of the village right beside the sea and is perfect for a quiet holiday or weekend break.
The owners, Dennis and Kate, live in the adjoining cottage and are very hospitable and helpful on local knowledge etc..
The cottage is very typical of a 19th century building which has been modernised to make a very comfortable holiday home. It has all the modern appliances but retains much of the original features.
Plockton it’s self is well situated for a holiday in the highlands. The Main Street has a few shops, a hotel and a store/restaurant open from 9 to around 4.
The hotel served good food in nice comfortable surroundings unless like us you have a dog. It that case you’re banished to the back bar which isn’t great, food was still excellent but the surroundings poor.
A better option for dog owners is the Plockton inn. The food is excellent and surroundings are much better than the hotel. It can get very busy and it’s
not uncommon to have several dogs in below tables at a time. Booking is recommended for both places.
The two carry out services are also very good. The Harbour Fish Bar in the village and the Croft, just up by the train station serve really good fish and chips. The Croft is definitely unique and well worth a visit if you’re looking a great burger.
Further afield from Plockton is Duirinish, a lovely little village with a river running through the middle of it and whose population seemed to be mostly highland cows.
Kyle is the best around for general shopping and is the gateway to Skye which is a must to visit for everyone. Loch Carron and Balmacarra are worth a visit but the real jewel is the scenery. Whether it’s the sea or mountains the scenery is stunning and local walks can be found right out from your front door.
Rhu cottage and Plockton are definitely worth a visit.

Rhu Cottage has views which could be watched all day. Beautiful walks in the area and lots of interest. Plockton has an interesting history, as does the property. Very comfortable accommodation and helpful, friendly owners. We had perfect weather, too.

Great location, wonderful views
Stunning views all around, we loved the area, wonderful walks for the dog right from our door. Cottage comfortable with excellent WiFi, instant hot water, good tv, everything we needed in the kitchen. Beds on the hard side for our taste - could do with mattress topper! Hosts Dennis and Kate on site with lots of useful information.

Great week
Really enjoyed our week at Rhu Cottage. Everything you need in the property and lots of nice wee touches. Welcome basket was really helpful after a long journey. Kate and Denis are very welcoming. Weather was great while we were there but can imagine sitting in porch on a wet day would also be lovely. We will return.

Quaint cottage
Cottage is lovely and warm, comfy beds, in a fantastic position with fabulous view and close to Main Street. Has all the required facilities and equipment you need (dishwasher). We were left a fabulous starter pack ( bread, butter, eggs, milk, muesli, tea coffee, marmalade, fresh fruit) so your not going to go hungry if you arrive late! Also fresh flowers in all the vases! Hosts very welcoming with local knowledge.
We had brought our canoe, just locked it to a fence next to our dedicated parking spot, then slipway only a few yards away! Local grocery shop on the main street has everything essential and only 5min walk over the causeway shortcut!
Good WiFi and we had EE and O2 signal too.

Plockton is just 20 minutes from the bridge over to the Isle of Skye with all its magnificent mountains and geology and Norse history.
And just 30 minutes will take you to that most picturesque of all castles 'Eilean Donan' set in the oustanding beauty of Kintail and Loch Duich.
Excellent eating and satisfying drinks are to be had in both Plockton Village and surrounding area.
