Bankfield House, is a large Edwardian House set in it's own grounds on the South Lakes Peninsula overlooking the shifting sands of the stunning Morecambe Bay. Situated in a village called Allithwaite just a mile from Cartmel and the Lake District National Park where people come from around the world for walks, cycling ,painting, climbing, bird watching and the local hospitality of pubs and Michelin starred restaurants. It is also just 500 metres from the local pub and train station. Bankfield House is the perfect retreat for families or groups of friends looking to either relax in the grounds of the house or explore the local area.

The house is big and its too hard to find, there is a sign outside the gate. The postcode doesn't take you to the right place, the house is a little bit further down the road. The house has beautiful views and fairly big garden to enjoy. There is a fair amount of space for parking cars. The conservatory was...

There are very detailed directions on the Holiday Letting website that will bring you direct to our door as satnav is not always 100% reliable. We had a family get together over Christmas and had a great time. We enjoyed the facilities and location of the house. The conservatory provided an excellent space for 14 people to dine. The house was nicely decorated for Christmas with two trees and various lights. The house was warm and comfortable with central heating, the AGA and electric fires...

Thank you for your informative review. We take on board all our guests comments and have put in another 12 wine glasses and ordered a new set of kitchen knives. The people who were in before you had turned the Aga off !!!!! So it does take quite a while to get back up to temperature !!! Glad you had...

I stayed here for my annual Birthday get together and everyone loved the house. The owners are lovely, friendly and very good at answering any questions or concerns. the directions were brilliant especially for un confident drivers. Allithwaite is a quaint village with an excellent pub, a train station, church, shop - all within walking distance of the house.

Nearby we have Grange Over Sands which is an Edwardian holiday destination with duck pond, promenade and many interesting shops,including award winning butchers and bakery.There is also a Spar and a Co-op.For the major supermarkets a 25min drive to Kendal is required.

Cartmel is a mile away and is food lovers heaven with a double Michelin starred restaurant and lots of pubs in the medieval village square.The beautiful Priory dates back to 1190 and is well worth a visit,and do not forget the racecourse which is one of the lovliest settings in the country to watch National Hunt racing.
