Our house is located on a private cul-de-sac street that is only 50 meters from the Fort Lauderdale Beach. Highway A1A (our cross-street) is the primary, ocean road that runs from Miami north thru Fort Lauderdale to Palm Beach. Fort Lauderdale's primary nightlife and beach-front restaurants are only a 2 kilometer (1+ mile) walk/drive from our street. The famous Galleria Mall with exclusive stores is a 1 mile drive while Sawgrass Mall with hundreds of outlet stores is 30 minutes away. Supermarkets, movie theaters, golf, restaurants, and nightlife are all short drives from our house while Downtown Fort Lauderdale/Las Olas Boulevard is a great venue for art stores, boutiques, nightlife, and high-end restaurants. About the neighbourhood
Our beach house is located on a secluded cul-de-sac street that only has 14 houses in total on the street. The street dead-ends into the green belt park (Hugh Taylor Birch State Park) so we receive no through traffic and residents make up the vast majority of the infrequent cars on the street. Our beach house is the 3rd house in from the Ocean Hwy. (Hwy. A1A) so the traffic noise is minimal from the highway especially when their is a nice ocean breeze blowing through our numerous palm trees. :) At night, the neighborhood is very quiet, and you will hear sometimes hear the waves crashing on the beach. This is a great time for taking an evening stroll since the traffic dies down on Hwy. A1A and you have the beach to yourself.
Getting around
If you only plan on swimming in our pool and going to the beach, a car is very optional since even the local supermarket is only about a 15-20 minute walk away or a 2 minute taxi ride. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5 kilometer radius (and many within 1 kilometer) so you can order take-out or use Uber or taxis to get around if you do not plan on sight-seeing. If you plan to mainly stay at the beach house, a rental car might be more money and hassle than it is worth. However, if you want to see more of South Florida, Miami, and the Everglades, we highly recommend renting a car for your excursions.

Airport: Fort Lauderdale International Airport: 12.0 km
Ferry: Port Everglades: 7.0 km
The Fort Lauderdale International Airport is the best airport to use when flying into the area to vacation at our beach house. It is only about a 15 minute drive away and is a much more efficient airport then Miami since Fort Lauderdale is a much smaller airport, and their services are much faster than Miami or other larger airports (ie.- going through security, picking up luggage on the luggage belts, etc.). Many times the luggage will be already waiting for you for pick-up at the luggage belt after you disembark from the plane! There are plenty of car rental agencies to pick from at the airport, and there are also plenty of taxi cabs, busses, etc. that you can take from the airport. Uber has also started pick-ups at the airport.
