Holiday Rental House
The property and Sarasota were not damaged by hurricane Irma. We're booked for all of December and half of January and March. Most people wait until after the holidays to start planning winter vacations, so they book for February and March. Thus, after holiday school breaks are over, the second half of January is much quieter for rentals, and if you're able to get away during that time, we're offering amazing deals. Click on the Rates tab for details. Here is the house info: Beautiful, spacious, sunny house in excellent condition in a nice neighborhood close to both downtown Sarasota and Siesta Key. Very nicely decorated and most of the furniture is like-new. Huge living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, sunroom, 4 bedrooms (3 with king beds) and three bathrooms. 2 couches and 6 recliner...The property and Sarasota were not damaged by hurricane Irma. Very nicely decorated and most of the furniture is like-new. Huge living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, sunroom, 4 bedrooms (3 with king beds) and three bathrooms. 2 couches and 6 recliners so plenty of places to relax. Nicely landscaped yards. A patio and hot tub overlooking a scenic river. Also a dock where you can relax by the river, fish or go kayaking. Also a large lanai/porch with an electric retractable screen so you can read or eat outside at night without any bugs. The hot tub is a high-end spa that seats 7 people and has lots of powerful jets and a stereo that can stream music from your phone. 55' 4000K TV in the LR with a surround sound system and a dual DVR recorder so you can record your favorite shows & sporting events. Also a DVD player, Apple TV, Roku with an Amazon Prime movie subscription, and cable TV with about 100 channels including ESPN. A collection of 200 DVDs - mostly movies. Also large HD TVs in lanai and master bedroom. High-speed Internet with a Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 wifi router strong enough to stream movies without delays. Rental includes use of: * 3 kayaks with paddles & 5 different life vest sizes. They are real sit-in kayaks, not sit-on-top-of kayaks. The river is flat water with a mild current, not white water so it's easy to explore it. There is beautiful scenery and wildlife. * 6 bikes, 5 bought new in 2016. They are cruiser bikes with raised handle bars for easy riding, yet also have several gears. * 2 boogie boards * 2 swimming noodles * 2 masks and snorkles * 6 beach chairs, 2 beach umbrellas, 2 coolers, 2 beach bags and several beach games including paddle ball. * 2 fishing poles new in 2016 with a kit of lures etc. The river is loaded with fish, many of them sizable because it's the largest river in Sarasota and there are almost no public fishing spots on it so the fish grow quite large. * other items There are two whole-house dehumidifiers to remove the Florida humidity from the air. This is especially helpful during the months when you don't want the AC on making things colder, yet you do want the humidity gone from the air. Modern central AC and heating system. Also two tankless hot water heaters so you never run out of hot water, even if 8 people shower in a row. It's very large, so three showers and two sinks can run at the same time. Free washer and dryer with a full range of settings. The kitchen is beautiful with stainless steel appliances, nice cabinets, dishwasher and disposal, stove, oven, microwave and toaster oven. If you like to cook, there are plenty of pots and pans, cooking utensils, cutting boards and other gear, and lots of flatware and glasses, plus matching plates, bowls and mugs. You can eat in the dining room, kitchen table, breakfast bar, the lanai, or on the patio where there is a table and chairs for eating outdoors, or just relaxing with views of the river. Phillippi Creek is the main river in Sarasota and has a lot of wildlife ranging from manatees to great blue herons to jumping fish. It's a single story house, so no stairs. It's got a very open floor plan. Nice tile floors throughout except for wood floors in two bedrooms. Six of the rooms have ceiling fans with variable speeds if you like fans. If you like coffee or tea, there is a new Keurig 2.0 coffee maker as well as a regular coffee maker that brews whole pots. If you like music, there is a stereo system with 5-CD player, cassette and radio with 2 huge top-quality speakers. There is also a portable bluetooth music player and another music player that accepts ipods and iphones. There are about 80 music CDs here or bring some of your own. The place is stocked with plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, kleenex, liquid hand soaps by all sinks, and body soap and shampoos in all showers. We also leave useful kitchen supplies such as tin foil, ziplock bags, and dishwasher detergent you can use for free to save you trips to the store. The owner lets our nonprofit rent his house when he's out of town to raise money for our charity, so your vacation will be benefiting a good cause, and you'll also get to stay in a beautiful place. The owner also volunteers for us. He pays great attention to detail and has worked on the house and the grounds for the last nine years to turn it into a slice of paradise.More

Interaction with guests
We email you a guide to the house including the wifi password, where to find things and other useful info. We're usually available via phone if you have questions. We have a handyman in case anything breaks. We give you a passcode to the keyless front door keypad so you and your guests are all able to come and go as you please independently of each other without having to worry about who has a key. It also means you can arrive at any time you want without having to worry about arriving at a set time to get a key. If your plane is running late, or your drive is taking longer than planned, you'll be fine and won't have to worry about arriving at a set time. We also send you an full guide of recommendations of things to see and do in the area.

We loved this property! It worked perfectly for our family get together. We needed a place to stay for a ceremony at my daughters college, we came from New York and both sets of our parents were able to be there and participate. We were...More

I have to tell you I typically don't write reviews but I was so impressed by both the house and the fact that the proceeds go to charity that I feel compelled to write one. The house is set on Phillipe Creek and equipped with...More

About the neighbourhood
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION: If you have not yet been to Sarasota, it's important to know that pretty much the only things on Siesta Key are the beaches which are normally too cold to swim in during January and February, and about a dozen mostly over-priced restaurants of average quality. You are better off renting on the mainland close to 41 and within range of downtown because there are huge amounts of restaurants and cafes, plus movie theaters, live theaters, live music, parks, museums, events and attractions like Selby Botanical Gardens, Spanish Point park and Pine Craft park, which is in Sarasota's Amish / Mennonite area. You'll also be much closer to Lido Key, St. Armands Circle, Mote Marine park, golf courses and other attractions.
Getting around
There are 50 eateries within 5 minutes and 200 eateries within 12 minutes, ranging from super upscale to budget and everything between, and tastes from around the world. 1 mile from Sarasota Bay, 6 minutes from Shell beach on Siesta Key, and 5-8 minutes from the museums, performance theaters, movie theaters, shops, restaurants and art galleries of downtown Sarasota. Also within 5 minutes: Three large supermarkets, five banks, public tennis courts and basketball courts with night lighting, four playgrounds, an outdoor pool ($4 for adults, $2 for kids), a mall, a top quality major hospital, three yoga studios, many churches, three gyms including a YMCA gym with a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
