Set solely over the ground floor, the cottage offers a double room and a single room with a pull-out stacker bed, which can be kept as a single, made into a king-size double, or a twin, upon request. There is also a family bathroom and an open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with fabulous views of the Colne Valley. Outside, there is a patio split over two levels with furniture, a summer house, and roadside parking. Holmdale Cottage is the perfect base for small groups and couples exploring this wonderful area at any time of year.

This is the second time we have stayed at Holmdale Cottage. The cottage itself is small but very well furnished with stunning views. The master bedroom is very nicely decorated with a comfortable double bed. Waking up to the picturesque view across the valley and the step-rising hills that lead to the northern-end of the Peak District is quite breathtaking. The second bedroom, which we didn’t use, has a single bed with a further pull-out bed underneath it. This bedroom faces the rear of the property.

The kitchen and living area are in the same room but the layout makes it feel the kitchen is seperate. There’s plenty of comfortable seating, a good size TV, and Wi-Fi that delivers reasonably good speed.

Both the times we stayed have been in the month of February, so it’s cold outside! The central heating is very effective warming the cottage up very quickly. There’s a nice bathroom with a bath and seperate power shower cubicle.

Relaxed in this lovely cottage from the moment we arrived.

Outstanding views from the front rooms, at the back the garden, though small, had variety with sitting area, or seclusion in a summer house, or sitting higher up with a wonderful view.

Facilities were good and modern, and the cottage was very clean.

The location felt very secluded though the main roads were only 5-10 minutes drive away and we found it very easy to access routes to major attractions.

A great place to stay to which we hope to return to next year.
