We have just returned from a beautiful relaxing long weekend in Shelve Shropshire. Lower Farm cottages were perfect, being peaceful and surrounded by amazing countryside. The cottage has all the amenities we could wish for and was clean comfortable and home from home. The owners Paul and Jean were kind and full of ideas and knowledge to help us make...

We had a very relaxing stay enjoying the peace and quiet. The cottage was an excellent base for exploring the area and was extremely comfortable and well-equipped! Plenty of books and leaflets provided inspiration for places to visit. Very friendly owners and it was lovely to have a welcome pack containing home-made treats!

Management response:

Lower Farm is really a great place to digitally detox. While we do have wi fi there is no mobile signal - putting you in charge of communications :-)

Reviewed 4 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

My wife and I, with 2 friends, spent 5 days at Lower Farm in Shelve in April. We stayed in the Cranberry cottage, which was cozy, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed for a self-catering vacation. Paul and Jean are knowledgeable, warm and friendly hosts. Paul makes wonderful tasty and unusual jams. Shelve is convenient...

How to get there
Railway: Shrewsbury: 22.0 km
From the north, follow A488 south from Shrewsbury in the direction of Bishops Castle. 2 miles after the sign 'Hope' there is a flashing speed warning sign approaching a crossroads. Turn left here, signposted Shelve, and follow the road over the brow of the hill. As you enter Shelve the church is on the left, and we are the last buildings on the right, slightly lower than the road.
From the south it is probably advisable to come the above route unless coming cross-country. In this case follow the A49 Ludlow to Craven Arms, then A489 towards Bishops Castle, then A488 towards Shrewsbury. Again look out for the crossroads (a mile or so after the turn for Nind) and turn right to Shelve.
