Holiday Rental House
This is a spacious and comfortable conversion from a 17th century longhouse and the 19th century cottage which was attached to it. The cottage is very spacious, practical and somewhat quirky. It has a large kitchen/dining-room and a bathroom downstairs in one half, 2 large bedrooms upstairs are accessed by a narrow spiral staircase (one triple room with three single beds, and another room with a double bed), there is also a sofa bed downstairs in the dining area. In the other half of the building there is a great hall with a sitting room area and a barbeque area in front of the grand fireplace. A third double bedroom upstairs has a king size canopy bed and another sitting area with an old computer, this is accessed by a separate staircase. In the other half of the building there is a great hall with a sitting room area and a barbeque area in front of the grand fireplace. A third double bedroom upstairs has a king size canopy bed and another sitting area with an old computer, this is accessed by a separate staircase. It is called 'Narnia' because you get to the oldest part of the house through an old doorway which used to be a kitchen cupboard! The gite is in a small hamlet surrounded by woods, valleys and lakes. There is a lot of wildlife around, and you can often see deer on morning and evening strolls. Buzzards scream and wheel over the valley and owls hoot at night. Lizards scamper over the walls. There are lots of local paths and trails (including a mountain bike trail) and we have maps for you to borrow. Within 5 miles there are several attractions. The Prehistoric Park (with dinosaurs), the Tropical Parc (with extra dinosaurs), the water mill of the Moulin de La Vallee (and the remains of others of St Jacut's 29 old wind and water mills), a fitness trail and a 9 hole golf course. Further afield we are in easy reach of the sea (about 40 minutes), several zoos, castles, chateaux and museums galore and the Carnac area with it's megalithic monuments. We welcome well behaved pets, but please check with us first - there is a small extra charge. Electric heaters are available in the cottage but the great hall is unheated, except by the open fire, so the holiday season is only from Easter to October. There is no air conditioning. There is a Pay As You Go WiFi hotspot from SFR which needs voucher recharges at your expense from the SFR shop, available in various denominations. Bed linen is provided. Only hand towels are provided. Please bring your own bath / beach towels. Please note that there is a one off cleaning charge payable, according to the size of your group, and that a damage deposit of £100 is payable on booking. The building is very large and old and is our holiday home, so is empty for much of the year. (Our housekeeper is not the witch Samantha Stephens so there may be the odd corner missed.) Our preferred changeover days are Wednesday or Saturday but please feel free to ask if you need another day. You will qualify for a discount code from Brittany Ferries if you decide to cross with them. Please let us know if you want the code. More

Interaction with guests
We have a caretaker who will meet you on arrival and show you round, or if you are arriving very late then there is a key safe for you to get the keys to let yourselves in. We are very happy to suggest places to visit and will send you our 'favourites' list when you book so that you can look them up before you go. We have a large stock of leaflets and maps in the cottage.

About the neighbourhood
The hamlet is surrounded by woods, where deer often are to be seen, particularly in the early morning. There is excellent walking in the area and many opportunities for mountain biking. Our caretaker is English and has lived in the area for many years.
Getting around
You will need a car to get around the area, although the Paris/Quimper TGV does stop at Redon.
