Kirkside Cottage is located in the historic village of Upper Largo in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife, 10 miles from the historic town of St Andrews famed for its golf and university.
Nestled in next to the historic parish church the cottage is a single storey bungalow with all rooms on the same floor and no internal steps. It is pet friendly with two dogs allowed free of charge, sleeps 4 in comfort and is finished in a modern contemporary style featuring all the equipment you will need for a comfortable holiday. There are great views of Largo Law, the highest hill in the area, which dominates Upper Largo, from the rear of the property. The village is steeped in history, close by is the historic Largo House (now sadly a ruin), once occupied by Sir Andrew Wood, famed for seeing off English raiders in the Firth of Forth during the reign of James IV. Walk up the hill out of the village, past the school and cemetery and look back to the fields behind the house to see if you can trace the canal Sir Andrew built to allow him to sail to the church, the focal point of the village on a Sunday.
The village of Upper Largo has the popular and hospitable Upper Largo Hotel, which serves great value meals at lunch and dinner 7 days a week, the hotel also has a small bar if you only want a drink. The hotel is within a 2 minute walk of the cottage.
Further afield the nearest supermarket is 3 miles away in Leven and there are a wide variety of eating places within easy striking distance, ranging from Michelin starred restaurants to award winning fish and chip shops as well as multiple quality farm shops and markets including the Bowhouse market.

Lovely quiet cottage, spotlessly clean, parking bay adjacent, much appreciated Welcome Pack, also fresh flowers. Comfortable bed. Well located for access to all the villages of the East Neuk of Fife and St Andrews and beyond.

Great little cottage :-)
Had a lovely little stay in this peaceful little cottage in June. Parking outside in bay was easy, as was the checking in process (key box). Cottage was really comfortable clean and spacious. Lovely extra touches like fresh flowers and the fabulous generous welcome basket were very much appreciated :-) Tv in main bedroom was great to have as an extra. Shower was nice and powerful. Kitchen very well equipped.
Great location for walks to lower largo beach and Largo Law, and just a short walk to the lovely Upper Largo Hotel for food or drinks. Really easy drives to coast / central Fife etc.

Excellent little cottage
Stayed for a week in this lovely cottage. Spotlessly clean and well equipped, it ticked all our boxes.
Very comfy bed . Good shower . Enclosed back yard for the dogs. Added bonus was the very generous welcome basket containing milk, lovely bread, homemade jam and cake. Perfect situation in quiet lane next to the church . Excellent walks right from the door . Ate a few times in the Upper Largo Hotel and the food was good. Would definitely return to this cottage - it’s a little gem.

Undoubtedly the best cottage I've stayed in, with 'on-the-doorstep' help from Simon and Becca, if needed.
Quite location, snuggling by the Kirk, with easy access to whatever you fancy doing.
A fifteen minute walk along Largo Serpentine brings you to Lower Largo, and the most tranquil beach you're likely to find. Plenty of walks to be done: along the extensive beach, up the rather steep Largo Law, or coastal paths. St. Andrews is only 1 few miles away for cultural activities. It is an inspirational place to be. The cottage is very well equipped. It is cosy and comfortable. Simon and Becca provide clear and detailed instructions about every aspect of living in the cottage. Pre-visit communication is excellent, via email. An email 10 days before book-in date provides lots of information about your stay. and travel info. I even received an email warning me of a road closure locally, and providing the best alternative route.
This is my second visit to Kirkside Cottage, and it certainly won't be my last.
The fact that it is pet friendly is an added bonus for me. The fact that there is a welcome pack waiting for you, with local produce, and necessary milk that invariably you forget to bring, is an additional bonus. Thanks and congratulations to Simon and Becca for providing the perfect place to have a great time.

Lovely cottage in a great location
Lovely cottage in a secluded location, handy for lots of sandy beaches and woodland walks. Having looked at Largo Law from the kitchen window for a few days I couldn’t help but take a ‘stroll’ up there. Well worth the effort! The cake, wine, and jam waiting on my arrival were a very charming touch. The cottage is spacious, very clean, and fully equipped.

Ideal Holiday Base
We enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage, and the welcome gifts of wine and home made cake! Its location was ideal for visiting castles and coasts, gardens and parks and all that this pretty part of Fife has to offer. Well appointed and comfortable and compact it was the ideal holiday base.

Perfect pet friendly holiday cottage
Kirkside Cottage is ideally situated to explore Fife and further afield. It is in a quiet location but within walking distance of the local hotel/pub. The cottage has all the amenities you could wish for. It was spotlessly clean and we were welcomed with a homemade cake, jam and a bottle of wine. We will definitely visit again. Thank you so much for making or stay so enjoyable.

Exactly what we needed
Cottage in very quiet part of village with parking opposite front door.
Comfortable and well equipped with nice linen and lovely fluffy towels. Generous welcome gifts including a huge cake!
Covid safe with hand sanitizer and many cleaning products available .
Small garden space handy for letting dogs out but unfortunately has limited sun for sitting out.
Easy to use kitchen appliances and simple TV ( so refreshing!)
10 min walk via Largo serpentine to wonderful sandy beach below the coastal path so walks available whatever the tide.
Very friendly local people and great seafood at the Largo Inn.
Perfect break for us and our two dogs with plenty walking from the cottage and mainly arable land so few livestock in local fields.
We would definitely go again!

Excellent cottage could not fault.
A very relaxing stay at Kirkside cottage. The cottage was very clean and all facilities were ample. The Fife coastline is beautiful with plenty of coastal walks. Thank you for the wine, jam, and cake delicious! Hope to return again soon. Keep up the good work. David & Shirley Ingham.
