Maple Hill Farm has received numerous awards for their environmental work, including being named one of 'The Best 5 Green Hotels and Inns in New England' by Yankee Magazine in 2017 and also certified as Maine's FIRST 'Environmental Leader' green lodging establishment back in 2005. We focus on sustainability & renewable energy without sacrificing copious comfort. There is wind power, solar hot water, a large solar electric array, and four electric vehicle charging stations, along with many other green practices.
A full custom-cooked breakfast (served anytime between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.) is included with the room rates, and you may choose anything off our menu of choices as well as partake of continental options. Eggs come right from the hens down at the barn, so they are certainly fresh!
Our 8-room fully licensed and insured inn is located back from the roadway on acres of idyllic and serene countryside in Hallowell, Maine, surrounded by rolling fields and woods, yet we are just four miles to the Interstate. The nights are dark with views of the stars, and so peaceful you can hear the crickets sing. Neighbors are few and far between, but great restaurants, musical entertainment, and boutique shopping are just 3 miles away in the National Historic District of downtown Hallowell, and the state capitol building in Augusta, along with endless shopping opportunities, are less than five miles away. The inn has trails connecting to 800+ acres of public land right next door (the Jamie’s Pond Wildlife Management Area) with many more trails suitable for year-round recreation including walking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
The entire inn and the many common spaces are available to all the guests. There is full bar service featuring Maine microbrews – even some “on tap” – in the pub area, plus a common guest kitchenette (with refrigerator, microwave, sink, and plates/glassware/mugs/silverware) with coffee/tea/cocoa and home-baked goodies available 24/7. There are more common areas including a dining room, living room, front porch with rocking chairs, brick patio area, and a large art gallery featuring works of local artists (all for sale) who live within 30 minutes of the inn.
Your innkeepers, Scott and Vince, have owned the place since 1992 and it reflects their personalities including farm animals down at the barn (mostly llamas!) and a strong commitment to environmental responsibility. We provide a personalized check-in with a tour of the entire inn, and while we want to give you all the space you need to relax, we are available when needed either at the front desk or via a phone call anytime to our apartment right on-site.
