Small but majestic, Signal Mountain is a 15 minutes walk through our woods.

Helen's restaurant in Machias is a Downeast institution. Martha Stewart raves about their pie.
A short drive from our house and a 1.5 mile hike through the woods brings you to a family of yurts.
The hike to the yurts is a leisurely 35 minute walk through woods and marshes.
Bring a picnic lunch and explore the saucer-shaped architecture at your leisure.
One of the best times of the year to visit the yurts is September through November.

Short list of area activities: lighthouses, FDR's summer home, harbors, hikes, kayaking, beaches.
Towns like Lubec, Cutler, Campobello, Jonesport, and Eastport are all under an hour away.

The previous reviews tell all. There is not a moment of disappointment while staying at The Prowhouse. Even the enveloping fogs mesmerize and add to the constant serenity. Perfect for a couple who want peace and quiet. My husband and I enjoyed every day of our visit. Our trip consisted of hiking Cutler reserve, Roque Bluff, the Yurts and a day trip to Campobello, but we found ourselves wanting to get back to the Prowhouse to enjoy the peace. Every time you enter the house, you come face to face with the iconic coast of Maine (dramatically framed by 6 floor to ceiling windows). Prowhouse is built on a ledge, over Howard's Cove, where lobstermen tend their traps and birds are in constant motion.
