Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

You cannot see the ocean from this cottage!
We really wanted to love this cottage based on the reviews, the description on VRBO and the recommendation of the realtor. Future guests should know that you cannot see the ocean from this cottage. Your "lovely ocean views" can be seen by walking up a path. It is not private. There is a 3 bedroom cottage directly behind this one and 2 adults/3 kids were constantly walking back and forth. Your view from the deck out of the cottage door consists of the houses next door, to the left is the bedroom and to the right is a bunch of bushes that hides the 3 bedroom cottage It should also be noted that you cannot park directly in front of the cottage. You have to walk uphill about 50 (old lady) paces to reach the cottage and then another 20 paces to reach the stairs to the beach. It was a nightmare for my husband and I (70 years old with bad knees) to unload our belongings. The bed was very uncomfortable (the mattress must be 20 years old), the futon was even worse. Bring an extra sheet if you plan on sitting on the futon as the cover is old, stained and musty, The outside shower was nice but the inside "half" bath just had a toilet, no sink! There is a small grill on the deck (not the one pictured) which we never used. The kitchen/living room flooring was filthy from years of wear. My guess is that it is the original linoleum from 1950. There was no storage for groceries, etc. The cabinet in the kitchen had 20+ glasses, coffee mugs and lots of plastic dishes, much more than 2 people need. The hutch in the living room was filled with more bed pillows (we brought our own) and the other piece of furniture was filled with old games and replacement light bulbs. The gas stove was very old. Two of the burners did not work. The cabin itself does have rustic charm with high exposed cathedral ceilings and knotty pine walls, but that's as far as the charm goes. It was also advertised with a picnic table and a fire pit on the beach. The family behind us claimed the picnic table and kept all their chairs, boogie boards and sand toys on it the entire week. They built their own fire pit from all the rocks on the beach. We couldn't build one with our old knees since you have to dig down to the water level and we did not bring a shovel. Make sure you bring water shoes as it is a very rocky area to actually get into the ocean. What a waste of money!
