The house is on a quiet street set within 200 metres of a surf beach with only wetlands and sand dunes between the house and the surf. The beach faces the Solitary Islands, with Split Solitary Island a few hundred metres offshore, the larger South Solitary Island about 10 kilometres out to sea on the horizon, and Northwest Solitary Island along the coast to the north.
The ocean vistas from the beach encompass the Solitary Islands Marine Park, where thousands of humpback whales migrate north and south along the coast during the spring and autumn months.
