Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Little piece of heaven!
I was a little anxious to book the Little Bear Lodge since it didn’t have any reviews, but after talking with the owners over email before booking I decided to give it a go. I am so happy I did! I have stayed in the Kalispell area before (both times @ the Kalispell Grand) and this place was by far the best experience I’ve had. Mimi and Doug were extremely accommodating, and it felt like you were staying at your home away from home. On top of booking the room I ordered breakfast two of the mornings from Mimi and also had a picnic lunch packed. Overall I felt the breakfasts offered more bang for your buck, and would definitely recommend the “regular” breakfast over the “lighter fare” for those of you who can eat a fairly normal sized breakfast (such as my husband). For me however the lighter fare was perfect. The food was cooked perfectly, and Mimi’s cherry scones and sausage & egg casserole were to die for. The cabin is very private—even though it is closer to the main house than the pictures make it seem, we never felt like we were being watched or had any lack of privacy whatsoever. It’s extremely quiet—don’t let the popping water heater worry you when you first get there, it will stop after a couple uses of the sink. The bed downstairs is very soft and comfortable, and I’m sure the bed in the loft would be the same way. My only major complaint was that the cabin could get fairly warm in the afternoons (we stayed in early June) and there was only a window fan to cool the place down. It would have been nice to have a little window AC unit. Overall, this place was an A+ in my book, and this is now officially my “go to” place when staying in the Glacier area. It is about 20 minutes outside of Kalispell tucked away, so if you want constant access to town it’s probably not your best bet. But if you want a nice getaway with easy access to Glacier or town every now and then it’s the place to stay. Have Mimi cook you breakfast one morning and chat with Doug sometime—they are kind people and will do their very best to make you feel like part of the family.

to tPerferct Honeymoon Spot!
This is one of those hidden gems that's under the radar. My wife and I spent our first 4 nights of a 11 day Montana Honeymoon at Little Bear Lodge. Doug and Mimi are such accommodating, gracious hosts - they are such a joy to talk to! Be sure to sample Mimi's cooking - it's delicious(sausage & egg casserole is scrumptious)! If you need any travel advice be sure to ask Doug, if you like to explore off the beaten path he can direct you to the best places - ask him about Haskill Mtn for some awesome views close by. Hwy 486 for awesome off Glacier National Park views, Polebridge Mercantile, and (check to see if gates are open in the off season) Bowman and Kintla lakes on the North Fork side of Glacier. Also check out Red Meadow Road off 486. The cabin is so cozy and inviting, it's a short distance from main house but you'll have plenty of privacy if you want it - Doug and Mimi don't go in the cabin during your stay. Early May the evenings/mornings were a little chilly but it warmed up quick during the day. Internet works great, not sure about television - we never turned it on. Wish we could have stayed longer - we loved our stay and hated to leave. Little Bear Lodge will be on our list for future trips to the Kalispell area.

Wonderful Experience
This is a very private cabin, just what we were hoping for. We weren't interested in staying in a cabin where we had to wait in line to use a shower or bathroom and we didn't want the noise that typically comes from campgrounds. This cabin is on a peaceful, beautiful property. Doug and Mimi are great hosts, they are there if you need them but provide as much privacy as you wish. My wife and I along with our two children stayed here. The cabin is small, as expected, but we fit just fine with room to spare. The lack of a stove presents a challenge but we were surprised at the quality of meals we were able to make with just a microwave and small electric grill (both supplied with the cabin). There is a fire pit on the back side of the house and the owners offer firewood at a very affordable price. The heaters work great inside the cabin, even on cold nights we felt warm. The beds are comfortable, water is hot, views are breathtaking, you can't ask for anything else from a cabin rental. Mimi made us breakfast for two mornings, the food was excellent and arrived at the door of the cabin at exactly the time we requested it. The meals were large, very filling, and delicious. The internet isn't the fastest and the TV only gets a couple channels, but if you're intent is to go watch TV and be on the Internet all day then you should probably just stay in a hotel. The point of going to a cabin in the middle of nowhere is to enjoy doing nothing. There is a trail just behind the cabin that leads to a logging road. I'm not sure how far the road goes but we hiked until a gate which was 1.25 miles from the cabin. It was the perfect hike to take our kids on - not too long, not a difficult trail to follow. Plenty of things to see along the way, beautiful rock formations and views. We saw multiple deer during our hike (and about seven deer hang out on the property in the evenings). Our kids loved the experience and the best part is it's private property so you aren't avoiding others while on the trail, just you and nature. I almost want to give this place a bad review so we can keep it our little secret, but to be fair this is a five star property without a doubt. We'll never stay anywhere else when we visit Glacier. We're so happy the property was available and we were able to experience it.

Great Breakfasts
The cabin was nice but on the small side. Nowhere convenient to put large suitcases. no real closets in bedrooms. Beds were OK but I would have liked a firmer more supportive mattress. The cabin sits at the top of a upsloped gravel driveway making it difficult to haul luggage up to the porch. On the plus side the breakfasts were great with lots of excellent food provided. Ordered lunch to go one day and that was excellent as well. Saw lots of deer on the property. Nice dark sky viewing of the starts as well. Located at least 45 mins from the nearest entrance to GNP. Can access Kalispell and Whitefish in half an hour or less.Hosts are very gracious and accommodating.

Thanks Mike for your review. The cabin is approx 650 - 700 sq ft with a queen bed down in the bedroom and a queen in the loft upstairs. The beds are about 2 years old and we cant buy mattresses for all of our customers so we have middle of the line in "firmness". This is a "cabin in the woods" not the Holiday Inn so the gravel walkway is more than adequate. We would have been more that happy to carry your bags on our ATV up to the cabin if you were physically unable. We recently did this for a Vietnam Veteran. Remember when you come to Montana you have to let the city conveniences go and enjoy the quiet and serenity that only the mountains can provide. As you said the stars are beautiful and unencumbered by the lights of the city. Big Sky Montana is correct.

Wonderful cabin
Kyle and I had a wonderful stay at Little Bear Lodge. Wanting to be close to Glacier National Park for our honeymoon, Kila was the perfect option! The property is within a short drive of Kalispell and within an hour of GNP, but still provided the privacy and seclusion of being out in the country. We took a hike just outside of the cabin and saw deer nearly every morning and evening. Mimi makes a delicious breakfast, we recommend the quiche! Both Mimi and Doug were very welcoming hosts and went above and beyond, even making us a Montana stone souvenir with our wedding date. All in all, our stay was fantastic and we would love to visit again!

Excellent hosts!
My boyfriend and I stayed here while visiting the area. The cabin is located away from the crowds of Glacier National Park but is located perfectly for day trips into the park. The cabin was clean and cozy. We enjoyed watching the deer outside from the deck. Doug and Mimi are great hosts and we definitely recommend this place if you like to stay where it's quiet and peaceful. Also, she has a very detailed, hand written book of places to visit and eat in the area. Every time we strayed from the list of restaurants she recommended we regretted it. I suggest taking pictures of the notes so you can refer to them while out and about. She knows what she's talking about. All in all, the only regret we have in staying there was having to leave. We had a great vacation!!

Cute cabin in the woods...be wary of owner
First let me state that I was going to give this cabin 4 stars, but after dealing with the owner, I can only give it 2 stars. Beware if you stay here, the owner, Mimi, is a bit obsessive. She has a rule book of about 30 rules, I personally have never seen this kind of detail ever in all my vacation rental travels. She will take your credit card information to have "on file" and then use it for any little thing she deems as broken. We were charged for a crack in a coaster that we didn't even know was broken. And she accused us of deliberately trying to hide it. :( She seems a bit quick to make judgements. Now for the good... the cabin itself is in a beautiful area in Kila. It's a bit off the beaten path, so be prepared to drive way back in the woods to get to it. I, personally, loved the location! It is so quiet, has dark skies, and lots of beautiful wildlife. The cabin is small, but very cute. Lots of little touches make it very homey. The owner, Mimi, is very crafty so just about everything you see in the cabin is for sale. She has ornaments, homemade vanilla, photos on the wall, etc. They have bear spray for sale ($40) if you choose to use that while you hike. It's pretty convenient. Upon arriving, we met Doug and Mimi. Both seemed very friendly. For the inconvenient...the cabin has a poor plumbing system. The water in the bathroom sink does not drain quickly enough and fills up while you're trying to brush your teeth or wash your face. The water that comes from the shower head randomly gets very cold for about a minute and then goes back to a normal temperature. The cabin is not noise friendly. You hear every little creak and step. It's especially bad if you have someone sleeping just above you in the loft. The loft bed is creaky and anytime someone turns over, it is loud. You hear each footstep. We learned to deal with these inconveniences, but probably wouldn't recommend for more than 2 people. For a couple, it would be fine. No one to keep you up all night while you're listening to the cabin noises. I can't recommend this cabin based on the interaction with the owner. At first impression, she is very sweet. But after reading all the rules and then being charged for a nominal item (that we didn't even know about), we were disappointed in this rental. I also can't deter people from renting because someone else may have a completely positive experience. This is why I gave it 3 stars, right in the middle.

Our rebuttal to Kristy Viera: 1.. (Beware of owner)..kind of harsh! 2..Book in cabin..is for the safety of our guests..6 items not 30..ie..trash to be put on owners deck because of wildlife..no fires as we are in high fire area, caution on stairs in early a.m.as there may be frost, etc. Other info in book about attractions, resturants, etc. with phone numbers to make reservations! 3. Credit card info on file in lieu of a damage deposit to keep out of pocket expenses low for our guests. The cc is ONLY used if damage occurs! Kristy stated that I charge for whatever I " deem" broken. My question is how do you deem something broken...either it is broken or not. The item was a coaster in a set of 4 matcHong and I only charged her for one... $10.00..with me absorbing the other $30.00 b/c they can only be bought in a set of 4. Also, it was found in the bedroom turned upside down so I could not see that it was broken! There was NO accusation that Kristy hid the break..in an email to me she stated that her husband replaced the items on the table. 4. She stated" off the beaten track...be prepared to drive way back into woods to get to it"...advertised as " Cozy cabin in the woods "! It is located 3/4 mile off the paved road on a gravel road! 5. Only a few items in cabin are for sale..I am an artist! 6. Bear spray not for sale...it is there for convenience and safety of our guest's and is only asked to be replaced if used! Never happened! 7. Plumbing is fine, checked at beginning of every season. We have an " on demand" water heater so no problems there! Also, no sink issues. 8. This is a log cabin for goodness sake...some creaks expected. Not a condo in the city! 9. Loft is a loft and is above first floor...bed in the loft is normal not loud. 10. Your recommendation on how many guests is not asked for! 11. My character assassination was not at all necessary. Mimi and Doug O'Neill , owners

The best cabin ever!!!
The cabin is nestled in a wooded setting away from everything. The owner's home is nearby but does not in any way impinge upon your privacy. Doug and Mimi are the most hospitable, friendly and just all around wonderful couple. And Mimi can cook up a storm! Her breakfast dishes are out-of-this world scrumptious. My husband said we had to leave because he was gaining too much weight! The features of the cabin are 2 bedrooms (1 upstairs and 1 down), a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, frying pan and coffee maker. The living room area is comfortable, and there's a high top table with chairs for dining in this room. Although we didn't have air conditioning, there were several fans and that worked just fine. Doug and Mimi recommended places to see and things to do as well as dinner dining options. This couple couldn't have been nicer, and we absolutely loved, loved, loved this place. We would definitely come back here.
