Hallwood fun weekend
Just spent a long weekend at Hallwood with 5 adults and 4 children. A very well equipped cottage with beautiful views of the countryside and well placed for exploring north and south Devon. Didn't get to meet Ruth and Richard but if their welcome is as enjoyable as Julies and the dogs you'd consider yourself very lucky. My granddaughter was heartbroken we couldn't stay longer to feed the calves!

Godley/Genner NY holiday
We have today returned from a fantastic week stay. The cottage was a perfect size for us all to share. There was 9 of us - 4 adults - 4 kids and 1 Nan. It has made our much awaited holiday into another happy memory. We had ample space and everything we needed to make our much needed family holiday easy and relaxed. The downstairs living space was perfect for playing games or just sitting around chatting. The log fire was very welcoming. The cottage is away from all the hustle and bustle it was lovely and quiet and so scenic. We enjoyed a lovely local walk through off beaten tracks - certainly made for good entertainment especially with wellies on jumping in muddy puddles. We were only 1hr from the North Devon coast and enjoyed the trips out soaking up some sea air. Due to the time of year a few local pubs were shut be we were able to have a wonderful Sunday meal at the Duke of York, Iddesleigh - would highly recommend. We also enjoyed a Chinese from nearby Torrington NYE. Just want to thank Ruth and family for making us very welcome. We would highly recommend and would definitely return. Huge thanks the Genners (Claire, David, Jack and Charlotte plus Nan Frances)

Super location with excellent hosts.
Two lovely weeks with several smashing beach days at Bude and Crackington Haven With our eight year old grandson, who loved the animals especially the dogs. Plenty to do on damp days including Tintagel and Boscastle which has been our favourite place for years. Well worth a return stay.

Lovely relaxing break
We have just returned from a week long stay at the farmhouse. After booking in February 2020, Richard and Ruth were always on hand right up until the day of our arrival to answers any questions regarding changes to covid restrictions etc. The farmhouse is spacious and well equipped and suited the needs of all of our party. The weather wasnt very kind to us during our stay, but the log fire and board games available meant lots of cozy days/nights with a glass of wine or 2. I would recommend wellies if staying in the wetter months as our kids loved feeding the pigs and looking at the cows, also the parking area was a quite muddy due to the amount of rain we had. During our stay nothing was too much trouble for Ruth and Richard and we all loved the fresh apple juice and the kids loved carving the pumpkins that Ruth gave them. As it states it is off the beaten track but plenty of places such as Bideford, Okehampton and Great Tortington can be reached within 20 minutes. We didnt get to use the garden due to the weather, but the view beyond was lovely and I'm sure in the summer months this would be a beautiful place to sit and relax of an evening. Overall we had a lovely relaxing stay and if it's time away from it all, this is certainly a place you can relax and unwind.

Fantastic Break Location
I’ve just completed my 3rd stay at Hallwood Farm & it has continued to live up to expectations based on the prior visits. The house is perfect for a getaway from busy home life to spend quality time with my 2 dogs plus friends & family in the country. The working farm is a true pleasure to experience ... from seeing the cows being moved between fields just past the garden gate to feeding the hungry (& very appreciative pigs) any leftovers, it really feels like you are part of country life. Ruth & Richard are fantastic hosts! The cottage is super homely with all of the necessary home comforts. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms have great showers & the kitchen is well equipped. If the weather is good you can even bbq & eat outside enjoying the wonderful views across the fields. The proximity to the Tarka Trail makes it great for walkers or cyclists, & there are some fantastic local pubs serving great food like the Bull & Dragon at Meath or the Globe Inn at Winkleigh. I’ll definitely be back & would recommend Hallwood Farm to anyone looking for a peaceful country getaway.

Relaxing catch-up weekend
A perfect holiday cottage for a good old fashioned catch up with friends, children and a dog! The large lounge and dining room suited our gathering perfectly and the beds were very comfortable! Unfortunately the weather didn’t give us the opportunity to sit in the garden but didn’t stop us from exploring the local area. Richard and Ruth were very helpful too and were happy to recommend a local pub where we enjoyed a delicious meal.

Farm Fabulous
Great place to stay. Lovely cosy cottage that accommodated 10 of us very comfortably. Richard and Ruth are great hosts - very friendly and helpful. Added bonus of having a farm shop on site and piglets to feed made it a perfect weekend retreat. Plenty of walks and local pubs to explore. Or for the less energetic, a garden with a beautiful view over the surrounding countryside.

Beautiful part of the country in relaxing accommodation for children and dog
Planning a Summer holiday to include all the family in the school holidays is usually a nightmare balancing enough accommodation, location and price. Hallwood ticked all the boxes and in addition it afforded hands on experience of feeding the pigs and helping herd the heifers which the children loved! We also enjoyed visiting many local places of interest including the beach at Clovelly and Horse Riding on Dartmoor plus the cream on the cake visiting the ' War Horse' Centre nearby which again included a great ride on a farm tractor to witness a very canny sheepdog herd nearly 200 cows on his own up to the milking shed and watch the milking process on overhead platforms as it gurgled its way into the huge container ready for collection. The owners were very welcoming and we should not miss mentioning their lovely dogs great favourites of us all, one deaf the other blind, a lovely duo. Many great memories for the family album.

Lovely farmhouse in a beautiful area
We had a lovely stay. The farmhouse is very well equipped, cosy and perfect for a family gathering with lots of toys and games for kids and adults. Our children loved playing in the garden with the dogs, feeding the pigs and exploring the games shed and it’s contents! The autumn colours were beautiful in the nearby woods and nature reserve and we didn’t mind getting lost in the slightest! Richard and Ruth were very helpful and Richard was very patient with the children who were very excited to feed the pigs! Would love to stay again sometime!
