Gascony is the portion of French soil between approximately the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Pyrenees to the south, over the River Garonne to the east and north. It's the Aquitainia of Caesar. In the sixth century AD, it became the Vasconia. Vasconia gave Guasconia, Gascony. And this name prevailed.
Gascony opens to the west of the Gulf of Biscay. It relies on the south mountains and foothills, side France, the Pyrenees, between Béarn and Couserans, and floor hillsides hills cut by the range of rivers, to the Garonne. Are on these hills a significant share of the French South West wine.
