The space This historic beach cottage was once one of the white canvas tent homes that made up "White City" a Summerville resort community that used to line the shores of lake Ontario in the early 1900s. Regardless of the season, this cottages boasts some of the best beach sunrise & sunset views in Rochester. The space This historic beach cottage was once one of the white canvas tent homes that made up "White City" a Summerville resort community that used to line the shores of lake Ontario in the early 1900s. After the great depression, homes were built right over the canvas tents, turning these summer cottages into permanent residences. The historic character is still evident in these homes with uneven floors and rooflines. This surprisingly spacious one-bedroom cottage has a wide-open floor plan with an amazing bedroom view of Lake Ontario. At night, take in the stars and enjoy a campfire on the private beach. Fall asleep to the sound of waves we crashing on the shore. Wake up in bed to a perfect view of the most spectacular sunrise and then enjoy the still glasslike water in the morning by kayaking down the Gold Coast. Follow that up with a relaxing and picturesque hike through one of the many trails in Durand Eastman Park. Golf at one of the country’s oldest public golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones and Donald Ross. Enjoy the day at Seabreeze, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country and home to the Jack Rabbit, the 3rd oldest wooden roller coaster in the US. Play a round of miniature golf at Parkside Whispering Pines, the oldest miniature golf course in America and second oldest in the world, and then grab a classic ground round burger, fries, gravy and shake at either Bill Gray’s or Don’s Original, both home to the best classic burgers in Rochester. What ever you decide to do with your day, Summerville has something amazing waiting for you and is no more than 15 minutes away from everything. Whether it’s growing the best organic beets, raising truly healthy livestock, harvesting the most flavorful and healthy local honey, pairing the perfect cheeses together for a cheese flight, or crafting the perfect wine pairings from all around the world to make each course magical, the best part of being a chef is being able to learn from and work with the people that live eat and breath what they do through food, creating world class ingredients. Come join me as I celebrate each artisan and tell their story the best way I know how, cooking great food, paired with some of my favorite wines, in the relaxed comfort of your historic waterfront Airbnb. Guests inform me of any allergies or foods to stay away from, then over the next two days, I work with local sommeliers, artisans, and growers to find unique ingredients at their peak of perfection to feature in a five-course tasting menu. I prepare, plate, serve, and describe each dish, highlighting the artisan and what makes them, the produce, meats, wines, beer, cheeses, etc so different and special.
