The article said, 'The look of the homes is evolving: modern is making a comeback, but modern in the guise of barnlike. 'The modern barn is the Hampton equivalent of a Tribeca loft.''

We must have been reading their minds. This unique modern, open loft space is perfect for cooking, entertainment, and just relaxing indoors or out. Located smack in the middle of Long Island wine country, nestled between three of the finest vineyards on the North Fork and across the street from the best and most fully-stocked farm stand on Long Island.

About the neighbourhood
Mattituck is right in the center of the North Fork, equidistant from the Tanger's Mall on the one hand, and charming Greenport on the other. It is in the heart of the North Fork Wine Country (Bedell Cellars, Corey Creek, Lenz, etc.) as well as the finest farms and produce vendors (Sang Lee, Satur Farms, etc.) There are magnificent beaches on both the Sound and Bay sides that are peaceful and never crowded. Marinas abound where you can park or rent boats and watercraft, or you can partake in the agritainment on nearby farms for Pumpkin Picking, Hayrides, Night Mazes, and more. The North Fork has might stricter zoning than the South Fork, as well as much more protected land, so you will experience true farmland and vineyards, vs. developments and overpopulation. Airport: Westhampton Gabreski: 24.0 km
Railway: Mattituck stop on LIRR: 4.0 km
There isn't too much local transport, although the Jitney and trains that service the North Fork make it easy to get here. There are several car rental offices. Bicyclists have made the North Fork a prime touring location, and many bicycle and motorcycle groups can be seen regularly enjoying the smooth roads and enthralling landscape.

The LIRR goes straight into Mattituck, although it takes its sweet time by stopping a lot. The Hampton Jitney seems to be the choice for its frequent schedule and it also stops right in Mattituck.

Driving is straightforward. Go the the end of the LIE (Exit 73), turn left to Sound Avenue and go straight ahead East about 15 miles.
