La Chaitaignerai features a very beautiful large longere ( french farmhouse ) generous orchard on an equestrian farm which is mainly laid to lawns and has substantial outbuildings all in a stunning 25 acres of hay fields.
The old farmhouse has been fully renovated and has spacious modern comfortable accommodation with enough space to sleep 8.
2 spacious double rooms ensuite bathroom including a seperate large landing room with a double fold up bed as well as a childrens twin bedroom.
There is a modern open plan kitchen which has everything you will need to cook up amazing french food!
and large dinning area a comfortable sitting room with very efficient wood burner stove by Godin that chucks out the heat for long chilli evenings and plenty of wood.

I thought the other review on offer was very unfair. The boiler did go out once due to high winds but Julia put it back on straight away and explained how to fix it it if it went out again. A very easy task. The...More

About the neighbourhood
The area is easily accessed from Caen and now thanks to the New motorways it takes about an hour and a half to drive to St Quentin from the Ferry.

There are trains from Paris to Alencon Le Mans and Nogent de Retrou and L'Aigle.

The area is well served by motorways and is rich in large ancient forests lots of large houses and stunning Chateaux.
There are a variety of restaurants too but get there early as most people in France eat lunch as their main meal. So smaller places may fill up very quickly!

Because Le Perche and the Orne region is famous for Cider there is a great choice of ciders and Calvados in the various supermarkets and speciality shops that specialise in selling local produce such as Tous Frais in Mortagne.

Railway: Alencon: 20.0 km
Ferry: Ouistreham Caen: 90.0 km
Coming by car from the Ferry from Portsmouth is very straight forward but the old route down to Alencon lets you take in Agentan le Haras du Pin and Sees Cathedral.
If you want to get to La Chataigneraie and St Quentin de Blavou quickly just use the motorway down to Alencon come off at Alencon Nord or carry straight on to Le Mans if you want to get involved with car racing...

Once off the motorway at Alencon Nord take the RN 12 towards Evreux and come off at theSt Julien Sur Sarthe turn of.
Take the D7 towards Bellevilliers and approx 7 ams along on a bend there is a sign for St Quentin de Blavou.
If you go too far you will arrive at La Gravelle a crossroads about 5 kms further on. Turn round and return to Saint Quentin de Blavou!
