When we first arrived after waiting an additional hour for “deep cleaning” because of the Corona virus, we eagerly walked in and checked it out. The views of the beach were amazing!! But after noticing the dead bugs in the corner of the home, bugs killed and smeared on the walls, and the spider webs we realized it wasn’t all that clean. The pool had sand in the bottom of it. The night of arriving we got a shower in the main bathroom in the lower level. The water was backed up to our ankles and wasn’t draining. If the house was “deep cleaned” wouldn’t the cleaning people noticed the water wasn’t draining while scrubbing the shower? Monday our in laws woke up in the middle of the night with a noise of crinkling up in the kitchen (they were in the master top level). We noticed our food containers had small holes in them and mouse droppings on the couch (which was VERY worn). When making dinner Monday evening, we went to get out the pots and pans to cook with and noticed a ton of mouse droppings in them and throughout the cabinets. Again if it was “deep cleaned” why wasn’t any of this noticed during cleaning? We called maintenance, they dropped off a new set of pots and pans on Tuesday morning and an exterminator stopped by Tuesday afternoon to set up 2 sticky mouse traps. When my son woke up Tuesday morning (lower level bunk bed room) he found a mouse in the tub. We also were told the pool and hot tub wouldn’t be cleaned until Tuesday. When the pool guy came to “clean” the pool, he checked the chemicals in the pool and hot tub. Never once was the sand from the previous stays vacuumed from the pool. The floating bugs in the pool were ridiculous, there wasn’t even a skimmer available for us to skim the pool ourselves. When we asked the pool guy about a skimmer, he said he didn’t have one and what we seen was what there was. Thursday evening we went into the kitchen and found a mouse stuck to the trap, which we took outside. Then when we got in to get a shower again in the lower level main bathroom there was a 2 inch cockroach in the tub! Friday the exterminator showed up to check the traps. We told him about roach. He said the house gets sprayed monthly and it was probably a brown roach. “We had 3 weeks hard downpours and bugs are coming into the homes, the roaches only live for 72 hours inside the house”. If that’s the case, shouldn’t the house be sprayed more frequently so the unwanted guests don’t intrude on the paying guests staying that week? Friday about 3 pm the smoke detectors randomly started going off, we called the rental agency and informed them because we couldn’t get them to go off and stay off. The lady informed us that Rich would be our ASAP. We waited until 330 and there was no sign of Rich. We called back and had trouble getting ahold of someone. Finally got through at 3:45 and was told she got off the phone with Rich and he wasn’t in the area, to just call 911. We questioned her to be sure that’s what should have been done since it truly wasn’t an emergency. She got very rude and said yes, that’s what I just told you. So we did as told. The fire department showed up and said this happens regularly at this house, but we were the first ones this summer. They found 2 smoke detectors with faulty wiring in the upper level. The fire department was great and showed the kids the fire truck and went over fire safety with them.
Overall our vacation was great because we made it a good one, but we will NEVER stay at the house again or even with the same rental company after our experiences.
