Last Time
We have stayed at the Even Steven about every summer with friends since 2017; it is in need of updates, maintenance and general cleaning. I don’t think cleaning crew cleaned well if at all, we found men’s boxers in the pool area outside, house needed swept because it was dirty and sandy, our bed was even sandy upon arrival… I had to clean the house to feel like I could enjoy the vacation. Then we had a dead possum on our property! When we contacted the emergency number for Outer Banks Blue they wanted us to take the possum to the curb for trash pick up in a couple days…The Smell! The Bugs!! and that is exactly what we ended up doing after waiting for them over 24 hrs for them to remove it for us!! We had a broken window in the lower level pool bar area that was partially covered with cardboard, Ants, Ants and more Ants, we ended up purchasing Ant bait. Outer Banks Blue did come with Ant baits hours after I advised of the issue but they did not say they were coming with baits or that they would handle just that they would issue a work order and since last work order for the dead possum took over 24hrs my faith in them was very slim.
These are all issues we’ve known about the house since we’ve booked it in the past and we took them with a grain of salt in consideration with the lower price, however with the higher price we’ve hoped that some would have been addressed. They have not.
The handles to the windows are broken and on sills of just missing should you want to open the windows for fresh air. The a/c doesn’t stay at a steady temperature. The TV in the living Room couldn’t stream possibly because the wifi was spotty.
The price of the house continues to climb and I would expect the house to at least be clean, big free and the one time we contact them with a major issue to be handled in a timely manner!
This house is not fancy or frilly which is what we liked and didn’t need anything like that but we do need it to be bug free, comfortable, affordable and with a company that can help you when a problem arises.
This is NOT related to the house and not resulting in my review of the house. This area has gotten too built up!!! This used to be relaxing too many people now. Poteskeet area beach is too crowded in July! Wifi rarely worked, but we remember that from years past, just an accumulation that this was out last time at the house! While on our vacation we visited the Corolla beaches and they were much more enjoyable.
We will be back to the OBX we will sadly not stay in Duck, we will be back to the Duck Boardwalk and Scaraborough but will probably try other areas and another company for next year.
Positives - The pool is nice and short walk to the beach.

Odd house, but we had fun
If we had taken another couple to fill the 4th bedroom the bathroom setup would have been difficult. Not to mention you had to go outside and in on the first floor to use the third bathroom.
We had fun and our adult children enjoyed the pool every night.

PERFECT!
We travelled with 4 adults and 4 children from June 15 thru June 22. We were amazed at the property - the pictures online do not do justice. I have been to Nags Head and South Nags Head before but never stayed in Duck. The town was beautiful and kept up much better than the areas further south. The property was right in the center of town and was a quick walk to everything! Restaurants, shops, ice cream, groceries, and a seafood market right at the top of our street! Two minute walk to the beach! Private pool was wonderful- we couldn't keep the kids out of it! Overall a tremendous value. We are already planning next years trip!

Wonderful Time had by all!
The pool was fantastic! The whole family loved it! Short walking distance to beach and shops. It was in the perfect location. Quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed the deck in the morning listening to the birds and the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked, though some of the cooking utensils were alittle rusty. Totally loved the keyless entry! What a wonderful idea! The lines at the real estate agency's looked very long!

Wonderful, comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood. Three minute walk to the beach. Five minutes to town. Absolutely loved it!!!

Wonderful relaxing time WITH 8 kids!
The house Even Steven was perfectly located for us. The streets were quiet, the walk to the beach was short and easy. The house itself had a WONDERFULLY CLEAN pool that was perfect for all 8 kid...with the steps into it to allow little ones to hang out, and a deeper end to accommodate the older kids. The room off the pool was a great plus with an updated bathroom, and little lounge area for the kids. The only downside to the house itself for us was that the bathrooms upstairs were a bit outdated, which tended to date the home, and even though the kitchen was not the most up to date it did function nicely with a large enough table for all of us. The screened in porch was also a great plus! We would defiantly consider staying here again next year!!!
