This cabin retreat has all the comforts of home! Situated on the 10-acre fishing lake within the gated log home community called Hidden Lake! Located in McDowell County, approx. 10 miles south of the town of Marion, NC, and below I-40 just off of Hwy 226 South.
A gravel drive will lead you to the main entrance of the home, and offers plenty of parking. Once inside you will appreciate the hand crafted log finishings. The main living room has a huge, stone, floor to ceiling fireplace, perfect for those winter days! A rustic leather sofa and reading chair surround the fireplace, along with a large, flat screen TV with DVD player. The dining area is just adjacent and has a large log dining table with chairs and benches. The nearby kitchen features all major appliances, and is very well stock...This cabin retreat has all the comforts of home! The nearby kitchen features all major appliances, and is very well stocked with all the cookware, glassware, and utensils you may need. Also on this level is a guest bedroom with a log full size bed with twin bunk above. There is also a nice log dresser to compliment the room. The bathroom on this level features a toilet, sink and tub/shower.
To get to the 2nd level of this home, you will ascend the custom 1/2 log open staircase to the loft area above. You'll have a good view of the beautiful antler chandelier illuminating both levels. Seating in the loft is a loveseat & rocker.
The master bedroom is on this level and has a rustic carved log headboard, and is a queen size. Another TV is here along with log dresser, end table and large walk-in closet. The large adjoining master bath is tiled and has a glass shower, Jacuzzi tub, sink and toilet.
Moving down to the bottom level of the home you'll pass the rocked wall along the stairwell. This level is bright and airy and features a queen size sleeper sofa (sheets are provided), flat screenTV, and the 3rd bedroom and bath. There is also a fooseball table & dart board, along with several board games & books to enjoy. 2 fishing poles & basic tackle box are provided. Laundry facilities are here too. The sliding doors open to the outdoor patio area with seating.
In the spacious yard, there is a large rock fire pit with seating around it - just great for making smores! Dry firewood is available for purchase - only $15 for a large tote. A wooded path leads down to the lake area with a small dock. Currently there is not much water under this dock, as we are still suffering from last year's drought conditions and have not had enough rainfall to replenish the lake better. If you are wanting to fish, it would be advisable to use the larger community fishing dock near the pool area.
This home is fully equipped with all beds linens, towels, and kitchen items that you will need. A small starter supply of paper products, dish/laundry detergents, and trash bags is provided. You will need to bring any extras, along with your own bath soap, shampoo, etc.
Guests also have full use of all common areas within the community to include the Lakeside boardwalk & fishing dock. Swimming in the lake is NOT permitted, and fishing is catch & release only. If you have your own canoe or kayak, you are welcome to bring that with you, as there are no boats to use or rent at the lake area. The lake is not large enough for motorized boats of any type. Additional fishing, boating and swimming beaches are available at Lake James State Park, approx. 25-30 minutes from us.
There is a seasonal in-ground pool, jetted spa, and poolhouse with bathroom facilities near the common area at the lake (open Memorial Day thru Labor Day). And there are some picnic areas with grills both at the Lakeside Park and the smaller Streamside Park. There is even a small playground area for younger children. The community also has designated walking trails for you to enjoy.
There is a large binder in the cabin with all sorts of good info. to assist you during your stay. Things like: directions to grocery stores, emergency contact numbers, maps, guides, sightseeing brochures, sample menus from local eateries etc. It also has important info pertaining to the use of the house, trash disposal, etc. which is asked to be followed accordingly.
When first arriving, guests will check-in with me personally (this time will need to be arranged in advance) to pick up the keys, parking passes, pool passes (in season), and directions back to the cabin. And since I also live in the community full-time, I am nearby should you need anything during your stay. Otherwise the place is yours to enjoy!
We regret that we are unable to accept large groups, bachelor or bachelorette parties, or pets of any type. This is also a non-smoking residence.More

Upon arrival you will check-in with me personally to pick up your keys, parking passes, pool pass (if its the season), and directions/map to your property. I live in the community full time, and while I am not the actual owner, I am the Property Manager. So should you need anything while here, I am always nearby.

You will definitely need a vehicle to get around with, as we do not have any type of public transportation in the area. The closest grocery stores are 20 minutes away, and you'll have directions to all of them in your cabin.
