Nestled by the lane on our small holding, Beech Cottage is a 4 star, well equipped cottage ideally situated for exploring The Peak District, Potteries, Alton Towers, and the many attractions on offer in the Staffordshire Moorlands - or just a peaceful, rural retreat !
Underfloor heating makes it lovely and cosy in the winter while in the summer you can sit out and enjoy the sunsets over the fields and woodland. Ideal for couples and all on one level with car parking within 10 metres of the door.

We stayed for 3 nights as part of a big group (we had all 3 cottages between us) and had a brilliant stay. Beth is really welcoming, and the cottages are so well equipped - everything we needed and more was there. The setting is really lovely, with great views, and only a short drive to local shops and pubs. We’ll be back!

Little gem
Found this little gem for a last minute get away to see friends and we where not disappointed.little summer hill beech cottage looks quite small in the photos but this is deceiving as the cottage is more than ample in size and is very comfortable including a great bed.the cottage is very well equipped with everything you need and the WiFi is excellent.as for the hosts, you could not meet two nicer people if you tried.also if you are looking for peace and quiet then you have arrived, was woken up one morning (9am)by a cow mooing in the field, that's as noisy as it got.
Highly recommended

Lovely
We stayed at Beech Cottage for four nights and enjoyed days out to Ilam and Dove Dale stepping stones, Matlock Bath, Carsington Water and The Roaches. It was lovely to return each evening after scenic walks but with tired feet to the comfort and quiet of Beech Cottage, super clean and well equipped. Hosts Beth and Glyn could not be more friendly and helpful. A lovely comfortable cottage with allocated off road parking in front and views over the fields, we didn’t want to leave.

Superb location, a home from home
My partner and I came to Beech cottage for a long weekend to explore the countryside and spend a few days at Alton towers. This base was perfect, the cottage had everything you could need and the underfloor heating was a huge bonus on the cold evenings. Beth was ever so friendly and helpful and we wish we could have stayed for longer. I dont suppose it'll be too long before we are back again:)

Lovely romantic retreat
Lovely cottage perfect size for two, amazing sunsets and extremely comfortable bed and sofa. Relaxing and quiet. Host was friendly and left us bread and milk which was appreciated, was looking forward to trying the eggs though after reading reviews hehe no big complaints other than there being alot of flys and no fly spray so be sure to bring your own also bath water only goes luke warm.. silly things really concidering how much we adored our stay. Very close to altorn towers and owner told us some fun story's about the place. Extremely quiet and relaxed.. few month old bull there called Bob who's adorable. Didn't see any other animals unfortunately but heard lots of different types of birds. 5 outta 5. Would have loved to stay there longer and was going to ask to stay an extra night but the flys were driving me mad haha

Thanks for the review Fiona.
I'm glad you liked the cottage but wish you'd told us about the flies and the hot water during your stay so we could have done something about it! There is usually a can of fly spray in the cupboard (along with a fly swap if you want to make a game of it!). Never had a problem with the hot water before but we could so easily have fixed it! We think someone had turned the boiler down. Nevertheless I hope we see you again sometime and maybe you'll get to stay an extra night.

A perfect stay
You could not fault this accommodation in anyway ,a very warm welcome by the host who showed us round ,and came to our rescue when we left the keys at our sons house in Longton and supplied us with a spare set so we didn’t have to go back in the snowy blizzard.
We will definitely book again - perhaps this time when the weather is a little kinder.
Please follow the route which Beth gives you as the other direction which my sat nav took us was a little hair raising to say the least ; especially with the weather we had.
( we came from London.)

the best little cottage in britain
this is the 3rd time we have stayed as this cottage and it is truly fantastic looking onto open farmland, underfloor heating spotlessly clean it has to be visited to be believed.it is ideal if you want to tour Staffordshire and surrounding areas there is lot of info in the cottage a wonderful book on walks. the owner and husband Beth and Glyn are 2 of the friendliest people you could hope to meet they seem to know the area very well and go out of there way to help. When you arrive you find that Beth leaves bread in the bread bin and milk eggs in the fridge like I said this was my 3rd visit but it will not be my last, the best cottage we have stopped at and we have stopped at quite a few around the UK

Although very rural, we are only 1 mile off the A52 giving easy access to Alton Towers, The Potteries, Leek, Peak District, Uttoxeter and the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands. There are 2 pubs in the village of Dilhorne 2 miles away, local walks, Consall nature reserve and 9 folders of visitor attractions
in each cottage.Sadly now removed as all out of date due to Covid 19.
Getting around
the nearest bus stop is nearly 2 miles away on the A52 so you do need a car.

How to get there
The postcode ST10 2PL will bring you right to the door but usually up the lane which is a couple of miles long and single track. It is much easier to come in from the A52 from Werrington(Cellarhead) to Cheadle. About 1 mile after the lights turn right for Dilhorne, after half a mile turn right for Caverswall and we are 0.4 miles on the right after the farm with a high wall. The name is over the door.
