Staveley is a hub of activity with the Brewery, Wilfs Cafe and the bakery right on the doorstep. There is also a Spar, Post Office and a pub serving good food all within easy reach of the cottage. Loved sitting on the balcony admiring the hills and the river Would definitely recommend and go back again

A River Ran By is a cosy and very well equipped little house. The balcony over the river is a lovely bonus on a pleasant evening. Staveley is a fabulous village to stay in, although not perhaps as picturesque as some, it is very well positioned and has fabulous facilities. A Spar that is open most of the time, a...

Three things matter: 1. This a brilliantly designed, presented and equipped cottage, bijou but more than adequate for 3. 2. Its in Staveley which is a robustly thriving village - pubs, cafes, supermarket, butchers, bakers and its own brewery with a jumping brewery tap for heaven's sake! 3. Its in the Lake District! All else is detail. Parking on the...

About the neighbourhood
Staveley is popular with walkers and cyclists but retains a strong sense of community and is a ‘real’ rather than tourist village. There are often village events (e.g farmers’ market, history society evenings, artshows, cycle challenges and fell races) and a biennial carnival. The villagers are friendly towards visitors and the shops and local businesses helpful. As well as a butcher, village store, pharmacy and post office, the village has an artisan baker, tea room and 2 pubs. The popular Staveley Mill yard is close at hand and has a great bike store, brewery and beer hall and a walkers' café which is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. It is also home to a number of small businesses including a furniture maker and art gallery – both of whom welcome browsers.
