Torside Holiday Cottage, Castleton

Cottage -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 5
Castleton, Hope Valley, Peak District National Park, England
Torside is in the beautiful Peak District village of Castleton, Derbyshire and it was our family home for 12 years. It is a traditional Derbyshire limestone cottage set in its own garden and decorated to English Heritage standards. It is very much a vernacular building with rubble walls, wooden floors suspended over the bare earth and all external walls are lime plastered with pony hair binding it together!

The cottage has a double master bedroom and a travel cot can be set up on request. The second bedroom has a single bed and a small double bed. There is a fully equipped beautiful dining kitchen and a cosy living room with x2 2-seater leather sofas, an open fire and smart TV. The cottage is located in the stunning and 'other worldly' Peak Cavern Gorge, beneath a ruined Norman Castle. It is a short walk away from the village c...

We really enjoyed our week in Torside Cottage. The cottage is a very comfortable, sensitively modernised historic building. Castleton is a lovely village with great amenities and perfectly located for enjoying the Peak District countryside. We would definitely like to stay at Torside again.

Torside Directions:
Peak Cavern Road

Please park in the residents section of Peak Cavern car park at first and walk down to the cottage as the small road down is tight and I think it is best to assess it first. I take a Renault Scenic down but I've done it hundreds of times.

You will arrive in the village either from the East or from the West as there is only one road that runs directly through the village.
Enter the village from the East (via Hope) on the A6187 (Castleton Road):
Drive through the village, passing Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub, The Peaks Inn and Peveril Stores on your left and the Post Office on your right. The road then bends sharply to the left. Pass the villa...
