Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Lovely cottage in a ideal spot
Swift Cottage is a delightful place to spend a very happy time pottering around the Derbyshire Dales. The cottage is extremely well equipped, with interesting artwork and comfortable seating. The terrace in the pretty garden overlooking the hillside opposite is the perfect place for an evening G&T! Tideswell is attractive village with everything you need but we liked being a little way out of the village - even though that did involve walking back up a steepish hill - and having a very handy parking space just behind the cottage. It’s an easy drive to Buxton, NT houses Hardwick Hall and Lyme Park, the Monsal Trail and Eyam and there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and tea shops in every direction!

Well equipped, great location, lovely whirl-pool bath and amazing neighbours!
We stayed for week, 2 adults and 2 children. No cons as the stay was lovely, but there are a few things which weren't as great as the rest of the cottage: Downstairs bedroom used to be the bathroom, it was very small and there was damp on the walls. My son also found a razor but this is not the fault of Charles, things get dropped and become concealed from sight. Lounge was small and just about accommodated two adults and two children. The sofa was very springy and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the reception of the Now TV box was very poor so we struggled to make the most of the movies on offer, but a lovely touch to have for families with children. The things we loved: The kitchen was the most equipped of any place we have stayed, Charles has thought of everything! The blue tooth speaker was a lovely touch and we used this a lot. The views are stunning. Very helpful to have the washing machine, tumble dryer and drying room, we made use of these facilities as it rained most days. It was also helpful to have somewhere to put wet, muddy boots and rain macs. My children haven't hoovered so much, they loved the cordless Dyson which was provided! The beds were very comfy, unfortunately the king size bed was very creaky which meant that every time we moved the rest of the household were woken by the noise. The cottage has plenty of storage, no issues storing away our cases. The whirlpool bath was an absolute treat, we used this numerous times by us all. The log burner was perfect after wet walks! The neighbours John and Jen were an absolute delight, they provided us with guide books and local advice, they really helped us to make the most of our stay. And finally, although we never met Charles he was always at hand via telephone and nothing was too much. Lovely cottage, lovely holiday and lovely host. Thank you

Very Nce
We stayed in the cottage recently and it was really good. The cottage was well equipped with everything needed and cosy as well. It was nice to have the village shops nearby for any things we needed. Only 10 mins to walk to the centre. The bakery was nice and the corner chippy was too. Cherry Tree served good cakes. We went on a few walks as well with the dog which was ideal. We also enjoyed watching the birds outside the window and the squirrel was amusing too. Would visit again.

Mrs
Had a wonderful week at Swift Cottage. A real home from home. The village of Tideswell is lovely, we went to The George, The Corner Chippy and Peak District Parlour. The weather was wonderful, we went on some lovely walks. The log burner was lovely on an evening. There was every kitchen utensil you could ever need which meant that cooking in the kitchen was great. We will be returning.

Super pet and family friendly cottage in beautiful village
We had a fabulous week in Tideswell in Swift Cottage in November. The cottage is beautifully located and very well equipped. The beds were super comfy too. We enjoyed lots of long walks, eating at several local pubs/cafes/restaurants. Our Labrador, Monty, was in his element, even though he isn’t used to hills (we live in Norfolk!). We had glorious weather too. Thank you so much- we will be back!

Excellent Cottage and Location
Swift Cottage does exactly what it says on the tin! A holiday cottage with a very high standard of fixtures and fittings, comfortable and well-equipped with lovely views from the quality garden furniture, clean and well maintained. Any issues that arise are very quickly addressed by the owner - we couldn't figure out how to use the satellite T.V. - and a text message query was answered within 5 minutes by a phone call with a full explanation! The cottage is on the edge of Tideswell which makes it very quiet and peaceful, but it's still only a short walk to all the amenities - including the excellent fish and chips at the Corner Chippy and the very good real ale at the Star Inn. It's very easy to travel from Tideswell to a range of different places: Ashbourne - a stunning Georgian town; Eyam, with a fascinating history as well as a fabulous Jacobean hall; Castleton and the Dove valley, with stunning scenery and excellent walking and the Monsal Trail which is only a short drive away. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely holiday, pet friendly cottage
Swift Cottage is a clean, comfortable cottage in the heart of the beautiful Peak District, ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and quaint towns and villages. Tideswell is also charming with local amenities on your doorstep. We enjoyed and recommend the Monsal cycle trail, great fun, whilst enjoying the spectacular scenery. We will return to Swift Cottage to explore more of this lovely national park.

Brilliant Christmas
We booked Swift Cottage on the strength of the excellent Tripadvisor reviews - we certainly weren't disappointed! The cottage was decorated for Christmas, with a very nice tree with lights. There was a lovely welcome pack as well. The cottage is extremely well equipped, probably the best we've ever had. It was also extremely clean, which was a very big plus! The wood burner was very easy to light and use. The bathroom is finished to a very high standard. The cottage is situated within easy walking distance of several pubs. We found the Horse and Jockey did basic but good pub grub, with an excellent choice of real ales, and a very friendly atmosphere. The Anchor Inn was quiet the night we went in just after Christmas, but we were made very welcome, and the home-made pies and puddings are superb! From the moment I made the first enquiry, Charles was extremely helpful and efficient, and the whole experience was completely painless. Thank you Charles and Adelle for a lovely stay.
