Original
Original and quaint with lots of the original banks features including the safe. It's clean and comfortable, perfect for a few nights, it does lack a full kitchen but is perfectly OK for making snacks. Quorn itself is quiet but has all the facilities you need, a good base for a trip to the outback.

Wonderful!
What a delight! Absolutely loved this gorgeous former bank building. We were two couples, so each had a bedroom with queen-sized bed, massive bathroom and lounge. We were upstairs, so also scored the balcony! There is another bedroom upstairs with single beds. The kitchen is small and without an oven, but there is a convection microwave, kettle, toaster and slow cooker, and there is lots of attention to detail. Quorn is cold at this time of the year, but we couldn't have been cosier!

Bank on a comfortable holiday
What a very pleasant surprise this historic bank was and what a great idea to re-cycle this attractive building into a holiday let. There were only four of us this time but the spacious 2-story building can accommodate a much larger group. We flew from Sydney then drove up from Adelaide and parked our car right in front then went for a coffee at the cafe next door .. great coffee and cakes and Quorn is quaint and quiet. Having had our caffeine hit we went to the bank. From the street you walk into what was the main banking chamber, now a large high-ceiling living room/kitchenette with comfortable couches and a flat-screen TV. Behind this there is a main bedroom and bathroom while upstairs (the former manager's apartment) there are 2 more bedrooms and a bathroom, all very comfy and spacious. The owners have made great effort to only include furniture that is in keeping with the early 20th century era of the building and if the kids get bored and want to kick the footy around there is a large, pebbled back yard. The kitchenette is very basic but perfectly adequate for breakfast, lunches and snacks .. plus with really top class cafes and restaurants nearby (plus 4 pubs) who wants to cook a large meal anyway. We all went up for the Quorn Races, which were cancelled due to a wet track, so plan B (a hour's drive up to Wilpena Pound) came into action and we loved the beautiful Flinders Range scenery. This unique holiday let is highly recommended.

A wonderful step back in history
A great experience. Wonderful character with lots of orginal features and lots of room. We loved the town of Quorn and explored the local area including the Pichi Richi Railway and into the Flinders. You can walk to all the amenities in the town from the Old Bank as well as some excellent old heritage pubs. A great place to stay and we will be back

quorn to live
Quorn is very quiet small town & this two story recycled bank is a standout in the main street. The top floor has a good large bathroom and two bedrooms, one with single beds. There is a lounge with tv & a balcony which is perfect for relaxing over a drink at days end. Downstairs also has a large bathroom, with a bath and shower. A large flat screen tv is on the wall and the lounges are perfectly ok. Generally the furniture is in keeping with the style of the house so there is no really modern furniture. Plenty of street or driveway parking without cover, and the backyard is a large pebbled safe place. We did have gas supply issues which were quickly fixed. The only down side was the tiny kitchen & facilities which made preparing a complex meal very hard. Close to Port Augusta but a drive to the Flinders Ranges.

We appreciate your feedback, and you will be pleased to know we have added some more tools to the kitchen to use with the Microwave / Convection oven and two burner cooktop. As a unique heritage building the kitchenette is not a fully equipped kitchen like you would have at home, but we can offer the use of a BBQ, and the town has 4 pubs 3 of which have dining rooms and there are great cafes in our street, in the historic centre of town. We hope you might return one day to see the improvements we continue to make to this wonderful building.

Historic Haven in the Flinders Ranges
How lucky my husband, adult son and I felt that this historic dwelling was our place to relax and enjoy for 2 nights while by day we explored the majestic Flinders Ranges in May 2014! The spacious, comfortable and affordable living was a great haven for each of us to find our own space as well as come together, to walk to the pubs and the historic Pichi Richi Railway or explore by car the Flinders Ranges. What an unique opportunity to ponder and research the wealth of historic contribution of this building and the township by reading from the diverse library of books in this historic haven!

Character Property
This is a lovely old building with some of its history still very visible. It has been a B&B and now a holiday let since being a bank so is well established. Although clearly stated in the description, the one great let down is the lack of a fully fitted kitchen considering the size of the property and therefore the number of guests it can accomodate. You can get by with the combination oven, but should you have to? A proper freestanding cooker would make all the difference. It is very well appointed in all other respects. We did run out of bottled gas the night before departure so no hot water etc It was late, on a Saturday night and we didn't want the stress so we did not ring the owner. I suspect the gas bottles may be checked in future.

Thanks for your feedback which helps us to improve the property. A fully-appointed kitchen is planned for the future. We will put clear instructions for operation of gas bottle change-over switch on display.

About the neighbourhood
Quorn was surveyed by Godfrey Walsh and proclaimed a town on 16 May 1878. The township covered an area of 1.72 km2 (0.66 sq mi) and was laid out in squares in a manner similar to the state's capital city, Adelaide. Governor Jervois reputedly bestowed the name 'Quorn' because his private secretary at the time had come from the Parish of Quorndon in the UK.

Quorn was established as a station on the Port Augusta and Government Gums Railway, which eventually extended to Alice Springs. The principal workshops for the railway were located in Quorn, and Quorn was the major railway crossroads for trains passing east to west and north to south in Australia, prior to construction of the Port Pirie to Pt Augusta railway in 1937.

Quorn has many attractive and historic buildings and houses and four hotels including the Transcontinental and the (former) Grand Junction Hotel whose names reflect the railway heritage of the town.

The Savings Bank of South Australia opened a branch in Quorn in 1906. The Bank became the Bank SA branch before closing in 2002.

The building has been renovated and is now available as comfortable holiday accommodation, centrally located at the gateway to the the Central and Northern Flinders Ranges, and within walking distance of four pubs, supermarket, bookshop, art galleries, craft shops, laundromat, post office, newsagent, butcher, chemist, Quorn Visitor Information Centre and the Pichi Richi Railway Station.

This beautifully presented former SBSA Branch with Managers Residence features 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms, kitchenette and two large sitting rooms, with off-street parking. Ground floor rooms are air-conditioned. Electric barbeque available.

There are easy drives to Warren Gorge on a recently sealed road, and day trips to Brachina Gorge, Wilpena Pound, Blinman, Hawker, Cradock (renowned for sunsets, pub food and art), Hammond, Bruce, Melrose, Moockra Tower and Laura.

Wilpena Pound is a world class geological feature and park well worth a scenic flight available from many surrounding points.
