Westcove House is an early Georgian manor house nestled in southern tip of the famous 'Ring of Kerry' , overlooking Castlecove harbour, the beautiful Kenmare estuary & with lovely views of the mountains on Cork's Beara peninsula beyond. Inside the central hallway with its high ceilings, you can immediately feel the character and sense the history of this unique home, which is an eclectic mix of past and present owners but with all the modern conveniences of modern living including internet connection.

Thanks for this kind review....you seem to have spent a lot of time driving long distances though....do come again and explore our local area ..there are many beautiful historical sites within an hour of Westcove!

We stayed in the stables as part of pre wedding celebrations. It was a lovely stay, relaxing and beautiful views all around. Would definitely come back again. The staff are very helpful and friendly, in particular Katherine and Susannah who were extremely helpful and accommodating....More

GROUND FLOOR:Large entrance hall with sitting room to the right featuring a sunken seated area around a stone fireplace with wood burning stove. Also, a sofa, three armchairs, TV and DVD. This room leads to the 'Bar' with open fire, music centre and glass door opening onto the terrace. A quirky Dutch staircase leads up to a little mezzanine gallery, well stocked with books and games, a writing desk and card table.
The large sunny Dining Room to the left of entrance hall has seating for up to 12 around the main table.Another table can seat 8 in the bay window. This room has Satellite TV . The spacious Kitchen has a large cooker with two electric ovens 5 gas hobs and grill; fridge-freezer, microwave and 2 dishwashers. At the back of the house are Bedroom 6 and shower room, laundry...

* Weekend/short breaks: up to 3 nights are usually only available during low and mid low seasons Minimum charge is 1/2 of the weekly rate. Additional nights are charged at 1/7th of the weekly rate
Deposit of 25% of rental is required on booking, except when the letting is over one year in advance, in which case only 10% is required, the remaining 15% of deposit is payable the January the year of the booking, and the balance 6 weeks before arrival

Walks range from gentle strolls along the many sandy beaches (many of which are excellent for swimming) to more serious hikes over craggy hills.
Fishing: Salmon, trout and sea fishing can be arranged locally and guests can enjoy shrimping and rock fishing just below the house
- Watersports Centre at Derrynane beach, five miles away - sailing, water-skiing, canoeing, and windsurfing ...all ages catered for...
Six golf courses within one hour's drive, including the Championship course at Waterville which is only 20 minutes away
Eating Out: There are several excellent and varied restaurants around
Getting around
There is no public transport in the area...the nearest train station is in Killarney - over one hour's drive away. Although there are taxis/minicabs..even private buses locally, happy to arrange tours for our visitors, we strongly recommend that you hire a self-drive car/cars at the airport for the duration of your stay, as there is so much to explore in this fascinating area.....details on our website and in folders on arrival

BY AIR: From London you can fly to CORK (Aer Lingus or Ryan Air) KERRY (Ryan Air from Stansted, Luton and Manchester) and hire a car. Several other UK airports also offer flights to Cork. BY SEA: There is a choice of sailings from the South West of England to Rosslare, on the south-eastern tip of Ireland:-STENALINE operate two daily 3½ hour crossings (all year) and two daily 1¾ hour high speed sailings (March -September) from Fishguard. IRISH FERRIES also operate twice daily crossings to Rosslare from Pembroke, which take 4 hours, but the driving time from London takes half an hour less than to Fishguard, (&their cabins are much more comfortable!)There is no public transport, so a car is essential.
