'The Stables' is a charming stone building set in the grounds of the larger Westcove House (see separate listing 46960) but offering plenty of privacy for its guests. Originally a working stables for the Westcove Estate and converted in the 1960's, it has been regularly updated over the years, has all modern conveniences and sleeps up to 11 people. For larger groups of people it is an ideal annex to Westcove House – especially for younger guests. The airy open plan kitchen/dining area is fully equipped and is spacious enough for everyone to come together…but there are also enough private spots if you need some quiet time and of course internet access. The cosy sitting-room has an open fire & comfortable bedrooms will help ensure a peaceful night's sleep. One of the Stable's main attractions its large games room, studio and the small gym/sauna located in its annex. This area can also be accessed from the outside and facilities are shared with guests of Westcove House if rented separately. The studio is a perfect 'den' for young people to chill out, with its comfy sofa, chairs and snooker/pool table. This can be folded away should artists/art groups wish to take advantage of the northern light and the inspiration of the fabulous location. The games room contains a table tennis/football table, dartboard and a selection of other games. This room has stackable chairs making it ideal for classes, talks and other activities. It is of course perfect for parties and we can now arrange a seated, fully catered meal for up to 50 in this very flexible games/function room ..which can then be cleared for dancing to live music or disco !. PLEASE NOTE… We are usually reluctant to let the Stables on its own between May and October until we are sure it is not needed as an annex to Westcove House (46960) and Garden Cottage (101215) which together make a very popular venue for extended family get-togethers and other reunions. However, do check the calendar and contact me as this restriction does not always apply – when we ourselves are staying at Westcove House for instance, the Stables is often available on its own – and we very seldom use the games room! For larger groups needing all 3 properties and sleeping up to 26, please see the listing for the Westcove Estate (101501). Owner's cancellation policy:- Any deposit paid on booking is non-refundable - except when the client rebooks at the time of cancellation the same property within the following 12 months, in which case the deposit can be carried over less 8% of the full rental as an admin fee. If the owner is able to re-let the property/properties for the full period of the booking, the deposit will be returned less 10% of the full rental as an administration charge. If the booking is cancelled after the full balance has been paid, i.e. six/eight weeks prior to the commencement date, the full sum shall be forfeited. However, as a concession, if the owner is able to re-let the property/properties for the full period of the booking the sum paid for the rental will be returned less 10% of the full rental as an administration charge. Any cancellation made by the client for whatever reason must be confirmed by email. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT CLIENTS ARRANGE HOLIDAY CANCELLATION INSURANCE COVER. More

Our party of ten had a lovely and comfortable stay at the Stables in May 2013 (6 adults + 4 children). Property was clean and well maintained inside and out … but with charm ! Great facilities for the kids (and men) with the play...More

GROUND FLOOR: Comfortable sitting room with open fire, TV/DVD and radio/CD player. Open plan spacious kitchen/dining area seating 10 and fully equipped with gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer & dishwasher. Bedroom 5 is small with 5ft double bed (converts to two 2ft 6in single beds if required). Bedroom 6 is very small with a single bed - perfect for a child. Large bathroom with shower over bath, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. Laundry Room accessed from the outside has washing machine, tumble drier & heated drying area. Sauna room, small excercise area and shower room also accessed from outside FIRST FLOOR: Bedroom 1 is a large master bedroom with five-foot double bed, newly installed ensuite shower room and vanity unit. Bedroom 2 is a spacious twin bedroom with basin. Bedroom 3 is small, with two single beds, one of which can slide under the other to make a comfortable single room. Bedroom 4 is a small bunk bedroom, lower bunk is 4ft wide - comfortable for single adult. The first floor has a bathroom with power shower over bath, heated towel rail, toilet and basin. It also has a separate shower room with an electric shower, toilet and basin.

Local activities include: A variety of boat trips for fishing or sightseeing Horse riding for all ages and abilities on nearby Derrynane Dunes Walks range from gentle strolls along the many sandy beaches (many of which are excellent for swimming) to more serious hikes over craggy hills. Fishing: Salmon, trout and sea fishing can be arranged locally and guests can enjoy shrimping and rock fishing just below the house - Watersports Centre at Derrynane beach, five miles away - sailing, water-skiing, canoeing, and windsurfing ...all ages catered for... Six golf courses within one hour's drive, including the Championship course at Waterville which is only 20 minutes away Eating Out: There are several excellent and varied restaurants around
Getting around
There is no public transport in the area...the nearest train station is in Killarney - over one hour's drive away. Although there are taxis/minicabs..even private buses locally, happy to arrange tours for our visitors, we strongly recommend that you hire a self-drive car/cars at the airport for the duration of your stay, as there is so much to explore in this fascinating area.....details on our website and in folders on arrival
