You can enjoy the cafe life and watch the world pass by at the popular Byford's cafe. Coffee shops abound! You can relax, no need for a car, just walk everywhere and enjoy North Norfolk at its best. Visit Spout Hills/Spout Common
Spout Hills, just yards off Georgian Holt's bustling High Street, is a special place of streams, ponds, marsh orchids and mint. Comprising of 14 acres of registered common land, maintained by Holt Town Council and an enthusiastic band of volunteers, the area consists of varying habitats and a spring which sprouts out of a gravel hill. '
HOLT Country Park is about a 10 minute walk from the cottage.
Holt Country Park is situated on the edge of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a Green Flag award winner. When you walk in to the tranquil woodland, dominated with Scots pines and native broadleaves, it's easy to understand why.
With the change in seasons come changes in the wonderful displays of flowers that you can find, from orchids in the summer to snowdrops in the winter. Holt Country Park is home to many varieties of butterflies who share their airspace with dragonflies and damselflies. The rich ground flora supports an abundant display of wildlife including goldcrests, greater spotted woodpeckers and deer.
Lots of events and activities take place throughout the year at Holt Country Park
Holt is an ideal location for Wildlife and Bird Watchers - Blakeney National Nature Reserve - 6 miles. Blakeney Point, within Blakeney National Nature Reserve, is a four-mile-long sand and shingle spit. Sand dunes have formed over hundreds of years on the shingle ridge and form a rare habitat valuable for unusual plants, insects, birds and seals.
NWT Cley Marshes Nature Reserve
The NWT Cley Marshes comprises 400 acres with reclaimed marshes, lagoons, pools, hides, board walks, walks along risen banks and the shingle beach at Cley, and a state of the art visitor centre with spectacular views over the marshes towards the sea.
Arrive at the visitor centre and you'll be greeted by very friendly staff who will answer any questions you may have. If you want to visit the hides, you do need to pay, but if you want to just take a walk along the board walks, or up to the beach, then that's free. Don't forget your binoculars though, as you will definitely need binoculars for bird watching!
It's worth going into the visitor centre just for the view across the marshes. It is stunning coastal landscape that you won't get anywhere else in the UK.

Just come home after a brilliant stay at carpenters cottage, home from home great place to stay really relaxing, everything you could wish for. Holt is a place that has everything good shops fish and chips really good. Would recommend to anyone. Anne has a great cottage.

Perfect place, perfect peace.
Lovely little cottage in the centre of an interesting bustling old town full of interesting shops, restaurants and places to suit all visitors. The cottage supplies everything needed to ensure a perfect place to stay, as well as a personal car parking place.

A Lovely
We stayed for a week in December, and the cottage was cozy and warm despite the low temperatures outside! It had just been redecorated and a new shower installed which was lovely. The bed and sofa were both comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots and pans and utensils. There's a dishwasher and washing machine which is a big bonus! We worked remotely whilst at the cottage and the WiFi was strong enough for us both to be on a video call at the same time, no issues.
Anne had left some mince pies which were much appreciated, as well as some milk. Communication was great. Parking was easy with a clearly marked car parking space about 90 seconds away from the front door. Both Budgens and the town centre are just around the corner so it's a very convenient place to be. We loved our stay here and would stay again without hesitation.

A cosy enjoyable stay.
Our second visit - a very comfortable cosy warm cottage -much appreciated in poorer weather. One of the best equipped cottages we have stayed at - an excellent shower, and so convenient for stocking up at Budgens. We enjoyed exploring Holt, a lovely town, went birdwatching at Cley Marshes, and were rewarded with a sighting of three otters! The cottage is well positioned for visiting nearby National Trust properties, and this visit we enjoyed a lovely walk at Blickling

Charming Cottage
We have just returned from a delightful stay at Carpenters Cottage. This charming cottage is based in Holt, perfect for visiting the bars, shops and restaurants and conveniently located for the coastal areas. The cottage itself is cosy and very well equipped and even has a piano!!
Anne the owner is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We arrived to milk in the fridge and the most yummy cream slices. A really nice touch.
Budgens is a 2 minute walk, ideal for picking up supplies.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

A delightful stay
The courtyard cottage on the edge of the town centre combines privacy, quiet and convenience. It is certainly the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in, and with Budgen's supermarket, 2 minutes away across a lane, ideal for topping up on forgotten items. Holt is a lovely Georgian town with many interesting nooks and crannies to explore, and the attractive town common is nearby. We also enjoyed visits to National Trust Properties at Blickling, Felbrigg and Shringham, and good bird watching at Cley marshes. all in all an excellent holiday

Lovely cottage in North Norfolk
We really enjoyed a lovely stay at 8 Carpenters Cottage in the last week of October 2020. The cottage was well equipped, cosy and in a good location. Anne (the owner) was very helpful and quick to reply to our queries. We particularly enjoyed the piano and would highly recommend staying here for trips to North Norfolk.

Holt cottage
Carpenters is a pretty cosy cottage 2 mins walk from the centre of Holt it has everything you could need for a self catering break . We stayed for a week and had a lovely time. Anne is a friendly lady and answered any queries very quickly.We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wishing to visit the area. Thanks for the cake Anne.

Beautiful cottage in lovely town of Holt
This beautiful, quaint cottage is perfect for one or two visitors, and is situated right in the town centre of Holt. It is a short walk to the shops including pretty boutiques and cafes and restaurants, and is also right by Budgens supermarket. Close by are lovely unspoilt beaches, so beach and countryside walks aplenty around here! Parts of Norfolk feel like you’re stepping back in time. Due to the circumstances that unfolded while I was staying here, I spent my time indoors at the cottage, and it was so cosy and pretty. There are plenty of books, dvds, piano sheet music and a lovely piano to play, and I also loved cooking whilst here. Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a Norfolk getaway, and I plan to return in future! Anne (the owner) was really friendly and helpful, and very quick to get back to my enquiries about booking.

We have stayed several times and it never disappoints.
We have stayed at 8 Carpenter's several times, usually at colder times of the year, and it never disappoints. Although anything that you might need in a town, such as cafes, pubs, restaurants and a supermarket, are on your doorstep it is completely quiet and very comfortable and warm. Great to come back to after a 'bracing' Norfolk day (the bird reserve at Cley is barely 10 minutes drive away).
The cottage is a real home from home for us, very well equipped and obviously caringly maintained by the owner.

The Thursford Christmas Spectacular is the biggest and most exciting Christmas show of all time in Britain. Come and experience the popular blend of Christmas entertainment, with dazzling dancers, beautiful costumes, Christmas songs, carols, including outstanding music and singing from our cast of over one hundred.
Each show is a pageant of spectacle and colour – the music a seamless transition from an up-beat dance routine to a choral rendition of a Christmas carol, a show which would not be out of place in any London's West End Theatres.

Light refreshments are available from our Barn restaurant, Carousel tea bar, and bar area. Our four shops are also open prior to the shows and during the interval.
