Blythburgh, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just inland from Southwold Dunwich and Walberswick, is close to the RSPB’s Minsmere nature reserve, which was the location for BBC Springwatch. It is the starting point for numerous walks along the coast or inland along the River Blyth to Wenhaston and Halesworth and is convenient for music lovers attending the Latitude Festival at Henham Hall and the Aldeburgh Festival. The White Hart, just a few minutes walk from the cottage, serves home cooked meals. Chantry Cottage combines charm and character with comfort and convenience. The lounge has a wood burning stove , and there is a dining room and separate kitchen. We have just installed bespoke wooden windows for added comfort . The two upstairs bedrooms enjoy views over the pretty cottage garden, towards the Church and the Blyth Estuary. More

This was the first time we visited Suffolk and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Cosy, chocolate box type cottage with a beautiful garden. Had everything we needed for a relaxing family getaway. Will certainly be back.

Chantry Cottage was the ideal base for our week long break. Julia and family made us and our dog feel very welcome, and we had a fantastic time exploring the local beaches, pubs and countryside walks. We'll be back again soon!

Getting around
There is a bus that runs from Blythburgh to Southwold and return. Doesn’t happen often but it’s a lovely walk to the town through the woods and following the River Blythe takes 90 minutes or so, so if it’s too far to walk back take the bus , just make sure you check the timetable ! If you need to go further afield the train at a Halesworth runs to Ipswich and beyond
