Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

A little gem
We booked the Stables as its self-catering for two, we like to get away for a few days before Christmas and pull in a Christmas market. This place for us was perfect. Far enough away from roads and noise, but so easy to pick up the park and ride for Winchester. The accommodation is all that it said it would be and the host are to hand if you need but do not bother you. This place is comfortable clean, and Parking is provided. As I say a little gem and we do plan to go back

Small but perfect for quiet recovering rest.
The Stables are set down a quiet lane with parking space for 2 cars, although slightly out the way, car essential, the roads are readily available to get around to all larger towns, Winchester, Bournemouth, Poole, Bogner Regis, Portsmouth and Southampton etc. There are excellent restaurant / pubs within easy drive very nice one within walking distance. Mike and Hilary are very friendly and helpful, the welcome package was very pleasing and the home cooked bread and cake were excellent. All the accommodation was excellently clean and all you could require. There is a television with various channels and dvd player if required. Both my wife and I have visited the Stables twice now and on both occasions we have come away relaxed and ready to face the world. If working in the area it would be an excellent base at competitive pricing.

Cosy and well equipped
The Stable at Rambler Cottage was extremely comfortable. In terms of a having everything you could possibly need for a short or long stay. The Stable has its own little courtyard, with a table and two chairs, and is placed alongside a beautiful thatched cottage with a lovely garden. The location is excellent for beaches in Hampshire and is very near the New Forest. The welcome pack provided enough, not to have to rush out to a supermarket. In addition to which, there were some lovely treats. I would throughly reccomend both the accomodation and the location for a short ot longer stay.

Lovely accommodation, great location
We’ve just returned from 5 nights at the cottage. We’ve had an amazing time. Hilary and Mike were lovely hosts - the welcome package was fab - Home made bread and cake was devoured! The accommodation is great, all self contained, it felt like a home away from home. It’s super eco-friendly, with loads of amenities and easy to use instructions for all appliances. The location is perfect. We were able to explore South Downs, New Forest, Winchester, Lymington and Southampton. Had a really great stay and would highly recommend.

Lovely, luxury small holiday cottage
This is a very luxury cottage with Netflix, music service, dishwasher and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is however small, so my tall husband (1.91 metres) had some trouble (bed is small and he couldn't stand up straight in the shower). But furthermore I am really impressed with what they have done with the small space, it is really nice decorated with personal touches and a great eye for detail. I can get really happy about shelves and hooks in the bathroom :) . There is a small seating area outside and although the cottage is situated in a residential area, it was quiet. My husband and I enjoyed visiting National Trust sites in the area. I can really recommend this cottage.

Thank you for your encouraging review. We try to give our customers what we would like ourselves . So often bathrooms have little storage space for the visitor.

Absolutely fab!
We decided to stay at The Stable as we have recently got a puppy and my mum offered to dog sit for a few nights so that we could have some time to ourselves. We wanted to find somewhere that was close to activities we wanted to do, but not too busy that we felt suffocated. The Stable was absolutely perfect in that respect. From the moment of booking Hilary and Mike were lovely and easy to talk too. When we met them on our first night at The Stable they were exactly the same, giving us advice and generally helping us feel at ease. It is obvious from first glance the care that has gone into the presentation of The Stable, each room is lovely, and contains anything you could require. You can tell the amount of effort and work that has gone into making The Stable a perfect stay; from the folder made by Hilary and Mike that outlines anything you could want to know about local activities, places to eat, and how to work everything there, to the homemade bread and cake that was waiting on us at arrival. All in all we had a lovely stay, and I would 100% recommend The Stable to anyone who is thinking about going away. Thank you for a lovely few days x

Thank you. We try to give guests an experience by picking up on the little details that are so often missed in making sure every guest feels the accommodation was personal for them. It is encouraging to hear when we have succeeded in this! We hope to see you again. Best wishes.

Excellent place to stay, we would come again
The Stable is the most amazing place to stay, we have loved it here. From the moment we walked in the door and found the handwritten note from the hostess to the home made bread, homemade cake, milk in the fridge, fruit, jams, cereal and I could go on. These hosts are fantastic, the attention to detail is incredible. The gift of pens, a very comfortable couch, a great shower, super quiet even with the windows open, table and chairs outside as well as in. If I listed all the positives it would be a very long review. Dedicated car spot, not far to the shops. Washing machine, dryer, microwave, oven, cook top, fridge, hairdryer. I would definitely recommend our friends and family to stay here, so go ahead contact Mike and Hilary, hosts extraordinaire, book and experience this place for yourself.

Lovely location, lovely accommodation, lovely owners
This was our second stay at The Stable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hilary and Mike are so friendly. The accommodation is spotless, and includes everything you need plus a whole host of extra treats including the fabulous welcome pack. Plus, despite the wonderful hot, sunny days the cottage kept cool and comfortable. We travelled around the area, Southampton, the New Forest, Hayling Island, Portsmouth and Petersfield and feel that The Ramler is in an ideal location. My husband is a Hampshire man and feels that this is one of the nicest places in one of the nicest parts of the county, and I have to agree, so peaceful. Would highly recommend. We'll be looking to book again in 2019

Everything you would wish for a lovely relaxing stay was just inside the door of the stables
HIlary and Mike obviously enjoy making the Stables a cozy retreat to unwind in Spotlessly clean and cozy cottage with all mod cons and a fabulous welcome gift of home baked goodies and other tasty delights We did not meet MIke apart from just glimpsing him disappearing into his workshop asI looked out over the neat and interesting cottage garden. Full of spring flowers and birds feeding We did meet Hilary who is lovely and caring with real interest in our needs and expectations Without a doubt the best hostess we have met thus far Plenty to do and see in the area much of it with maritime historical interest

A well-appointed base for two
We felt immediately welcome and at home, we had a wonderful pack of provisions, tailor-made for our dietary needs, lots of maps and useful information to help us navigate the area. The accommodation was quiet and, although compact, was fully and cleverly kitted-out so we could want for nothing. The owners were friendly and helpful. The accommodation is in a rather more built-up area than we imagined, and it took us rather a while to find our way to the beautiful Hampshire countryside we were looking forward to exploring, but overall it was ideal for our needs
