Holiday Rental House
Introduction - The Old School House dates back to 1840 and is perfectly placed right on the waters edge in the quintessential harbour of Emsworth. The Old School House has gone through an extensive refurbishment and now is beautifully decorated in a pared back coastal style. It is perfect for romantic getaways by the sea or to enjoy coastal walks. The traditional working harbour town is abuzz with beach and boat life and children love getting their crabbing nets and bait from the local shops. Bedrooms & Bathrooms - The first floor bedroom has a king size bed and super comfy pocket-sprung mattress. Throw open the windows for an amazing view of the mill pond and watch the wildlife. The ensuite bathroom has a bath and separate power shower, heated towel rail and plenty of storage space....Introduction - The Old School House dates back to 1840 and is perfectly placed right on the waters edge in the quintessential harbour of Emsworth. The ensuite bathroom has a bath and separate power shower, heated towel rail and plenty of storage space. Towels are provided. The bedroom downstairs has twin 3ft zip and link beds that can be put together to make a king sized bed, again the beds have pocket sprung mattresses, which are super deep. We have therefore, provided little steps for children to climb up into bed. There is also a ground floor bathroom with power shower and heated towel rail. Towels are provided. Kitchen - has all mod cons and utensils for your stay, it includes oven, hob, microwave, Nespresso machine, toaster & dishwasher. There is also a washing machine Sitting rooms - There are two sitting rooms, one for relaxing, reading or perhaps listening to music, whilst planning your next walk. The other has a more family feel with the Smart 3D TV and 3D DVD player and is next to the kitchen. Both have sofa beds. Outside - The Old School House has its own courtyard garden or step outside the front door to feed the local ducks that line up for their breakfast, a favourite with the children. Walk around the promenade to access the many coastal paths of Chichester Harbour and Hayling Island. You could head to the glorious sandy beach at West Wittering only 16 miles by car or to Hayling Island only 7 miles. Goodwood Revival & Festival of Speed are only 20 mins away, if you have a classic car you can park at the Annexe at Sunnyside in Emsworth (see our listing on TripAdvisor) where there is plenty of off road parking and we will shuttle you the mile to and from the Old School House. About the neighbourhood
Emsworth was once famous for its Oyster industry and was home to PG Wodehouse. For two weekends in April and May over 100 Emsworth Artists open their studios and homes for the Emsworth Art trail. It is just a 1 minute walk to the centre of Emsworth where you will find old fisherman’s cottages, quaint cafes, restaurants, pubs, traditional butchers, greengrocers and bakery’s.
Getting around
Getting around is easy by car, train or bus. With so much to see and do here, we are equidistant between Chichester and Portsmouth, which makes it a great location for attractions such as : Emsworth & Chichester Harbour boat tours and the Oyster Boat trip. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, The Mary Rose, HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, Gunwharf Quays, The Spinnaker Tower, Submarine Museum, Old Portsmouth and the ferry to the Isle of Wight for a day trip. Tinwood & Wickham Vineyards, Fishbourne Roman Palace, West Dean Gardens, Bishops Palace Gardens, Chichester Cathedral, Chichester Festival Theatre, Goodwood House and Events, Kingley Vale, Cass Sculpture Park and much much more....
