This is a period cottage in a unique position with wonderful views of the English Channel. Set in the tranquil and pretty village of Bonchurch, with its village pond and tiny 9th century church, the cottage is set down a track through the woods that opens out onto the South Coast of the Isle of Wight. The cottage was originally the dairy man's cottage for the estate of East Dene. The octagonal dairy can be used as a second sitting room or extra bedroom with a double sofa bed. Also downstairs is the twin 'cabin' room, ideal for children, a family bathroom with bath, a separate shower, and a separate toilet. From the dining room there is a steep staircase to the main bedroom with a super king size bed, a twin bedroom and separate toilet - all with beautiful sea views. From the dining room there is a steep staircase to the main bedroom with a super king size bed, a twin bedroom and separate toilet - all with beautiful sea views. Leading from the hall is a doorway into the sitting room with a log burning stove, two sofas and a television with freeview. An open doorway then leads through to the dining room with table and chairs and delightful views of the English Channel with the ferries and cruise ships passing by. Two steps lead up to the kitchen which has a built-in double oven, fridge with small freezer above, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and washing machine. There are plenty of cupboards for your provisions and lots of kitchen equipment. A door leads into the courtyard where there is a small table and chairs, perfect for a morning cup of coffee. There is also a washing line. To the front and side of the property is a large garden with a charcoal barbeque, a large deck with plenty of sun loungers and chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view. The property has direct access to the coastal path and you can walk to Shanklin (1 hour) or along the sea wall (calling in at the Old Church of Bonchurch) to the beach and shops of Ventnor (25 minutes). Alternatively you can walk down the slope to the beach - great for rock pooling! This access is not suitable for a wheelchair or for the infirm. The cottage is very well suited to explore the Isle of Wight. The beautiful sandy beaches of Sandown are a 20 minute drive away and the pretty red shingle beach at Ventnor with its many shops and cafes at the rear of the beach is always popular with every age. Black Gang Chine, Osborne House, The Needles, The Garlic Farm and many more attractions are all within easy driving distance. More

About the neighbourhood
The South side of the Isle of Wight is famous for its micro climate and was very popular with the Victorians as a health resort. The fresh air and warm climate were thought to be particularly beneficial to those suffering from tuberculosis. The Botanic Gardens are home to many rare plants that can only be grown in this part of the UK. The Isle of Wight is now having something of a resurgence after its decline in the 1960's. New attractions as a result of investment and a surge in the Islands wonderful produce has seen many new restaurants, cafes and shops open up. The Garlic Festival in August is hugely popular, along with the many music festivals and sporting and charity challenges such as Walk the Wight.
Getting around
Car is the most convenient way to get around the island. However, there are many opportunities to cycle and walk your way round.
