Carmel is set down a private lane on the south coast of the Isle of Wight just a stones throw from secluded Monks Bay. The property faces due south with seaviews from the cottage and the surrounding gardens. Carmel has been furnished in a modern style to compliment many of the original features, hand carved fireplaces, Gothic style windows and airy open vaulted ceilings. Cosy in the winter with the woodburner or refreshing in the summer with the garden doors open letting the summer breeze fill the room. Carmel has three elegantly furnished bedrooms, each with its own unique charm, and easily sleeping eight if required. Carmel has three elegantly furnished bedrooms, each with its own unique charm, and easily sleeping eight if required. Upstairs, 2 large bedrooms overlook the surrounding countryside with seaviews to the east and west. Vaulted ceilings and open beams compliment the sunny light mood of the rooms and hallway. The lower gardens surrounding the property are a great place for children to explore and play in the wendy house. Numerous eating areas and terraces enable you to enjoy a spectacular seaview and absorb the sun from early in the morning well into the evening. Climb the paths behind the house to reveal further secluded terraces with panoramic sea views. Follow the short path down the cliff to Monks Bay, a beautiful sheltered sandy beach, safe for bathing. The offshore breakwater to the west is the perfect place to cast a fishing line out to sea. At low tide hundreds of rock-pools are exposed, home to many small fish, prawns and crabs. When the tide comes in float over the rocks with a mask and snorkel – you will be amazed at what you see. Explore the wooded area to the east of Carmel known as The Landslip. Very comfortable, non-fussy, pet friendly cottage. Fabulous views over the sea when weather good and when it's not a lovely place to hunker down in.

About the neighbourhood
Built on a series of terraces on the lower slopes of St Boniface Down, the timeless village of Bonchurch is recognized as much for its natural beauty as it is for its historical connections.Beginning at the foreshore the village is fronted by Monks Bay and Horseshoe Bay. The wide beach at Monks Bay provides a safe bathing area for children and exposes an abundance of fabulous rock pools to explore at low tide. Climbing the footpath towards the village you will pass St Boniface Old Church. Rebuilt in 1070AD, the church was once visited by Charles I who attended a funeral here during his imprisonment on the Island at Carisbrooke Castle. The heart of the village is the Pond, home to an abundance of wildlife including ducks and moorhens. Huge carp rise to the surface for scraps of bread throw...
Getting around
Walk to the ocean down the cliff trail - 2 minutes Walk to Ventnor Seafront along the sea wall - 1 km (west) Walk to Shanklin through the woods - 4km (east) Walk to the village back up the lane - 0.5km (north)
