Overview
Cottage -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, England
Serendipity is a gorgeous Victoria-era cottage overlooking the sea set in an idyllic and peaceful setting next to the beach and a nature conservation area. The cottage has been recently (2016) renovated to a very high standard throughout.

Both the living room and the bedroom have fantastic views over the sea. The cosy living room is the perfect place to watch the yachts sailing by. Or sitting with the family around a lovely log stove, recounting the stories, adventures and special moments of the day. The living room also has a wall-mounted TV/DVD, a music system and a games library.

The master bedroom is a wonderfully spacious room where you can wake up to enjoy a morning cup of tea with great sea views and fresh sea air. There are built-in cupboards for clothes storage, giving the room an extra airy feel, a roomy king-sized bed, and pl...

Interaction with guests
We've been holidaying since we were children, as have our parents before us, and even our grandparents had a little wooden holiday hut at nearby Colwell Beach. We know and love the area very well, and would be delighted to answer any queries you have or make any recommendations. A couple of weeks before your arrival we will send you a welcome pack of suggestions of our favourite restaurants at the moment, and the best things to do in the area. If we're not in the area at the time of your visit, definitely someone from our family will be, and will be happy to help you.

We went to the Isle of Wight as a large family party. What an amazing surprise! The cottages were gorgeous. We stayed in Wight Cottage and it was immaculate and beautifully decorated. The Isle of Wight is full of things to do for different ages...More

The cottage is located in a very quiet location with one side facing the sea and the other woodland. The cottage has a patio facing the sea, which looks towards the Solent and the south-east of England, and also an area of grassland with plenty...More

We've just spent a fantastic week at Fort Victoria. The cottage is well equipped and really comfortable. It feels like a home away from home. There's lots of fantastic walks right on the doorstep - the coastal path to the Needles being one I'd recommend....More

About the neighbourhood
The immediate surrounds of the cottage are very peaceful, and yet full of adventure and wonder. There are beaches, walks, woodlands, cycle routes, nature, kids attractions, and beach-fronted cafe bars, right on the doorstep. Exit the back of the cottages and you walk straight onto the Isle of Wight coastal path, through a woodland conservation area, some stunning views of the Solent, long sandy beaches, coastal fortresses, and dramatic chalk cliffs - all part of the famous Heritage Coast here.
Getting around
The cottage is a 3-4 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) along the coast from the historical harbour town of Yarmouth, the arrival point for the car ferry from Lymington in the New Forest.

If you don't want to bring a car, there is a very good bus network all over the island, a regular bus stop at the end of the road, and a request stop at the fort. You can also rent bikes at the old train station next to the river in Yarmouth.

If you like walking the whole area is a paradise. The 15 minute walk to Yarmouth runs along the beach and coastal pathway to the edge of the harbour (Sandhart Beach), which you can either walk around, or take the £1.50 harbour water taxi straight into town.

How to get there
Airport: Southampton Parkway: 15.0 km
Railway: Lymington Pier: 2.0 km
Ferry: Yarmouth: 2.0 km
The best route is through the New Forest to Leamington, and then Wightlink ferry to Yarmouth. The scenery through the New Forest is stunning, and you arrive on the island a few minutes from the cottage.

Alternative ferry crossings are Southampton to Cowes (Red Funnel) and Portsmouth to Fishbourne (Wightlink).

As you leave Yarmouth ferry terminal, turn right on the main roundabout and and cross the bridge over the River Yar.
Follow the main road as it bears left 90 degrees.
After about 400m turn right, following the brown sign to 'Fort Victoria Country Park'.
Continue over a small bridge, past some bungalows and over a hill, at the bottom of which the road bends left.
100m after this bend there is a dirt track to the left which leads to the cottage car park.
