Guests will be met on arrival and shown around the cottage. There is also a key box outside with the code numbers available on request The owners live nearby so are happy to help when needed or if they are away then there is a local person who can be available if needed

We came for a winter holiday and this house was just the place to be! Good-sized kitchen, large bathroom, 2 big bedrooms and a small living room with a fold-out dining table - enough space for four! Almost everything is in walking distance and London...More

The house was as advertised, it is close to the prom and the high street which feature many pubs and eateries. The host was excellent and recommended places to eat which was really useful. The house was well appointed and clean

Flotsam is in an excellent location.....close to bars, restaurants, shops and the sea front. There are good walks along the coast in both directions. The house itself is warm and comfortable. Highly recommended!

The 3 storey cottage has 3 light and airy bedrooms on 2 floors, all with double aspect windows and all individually decorated. The 2 double rooms have fitted wardrobes and bedside tables with lamps as well as a chair and dressing table and the single room has hanging space and storage for clothes, a bedside table and a lamp as well . A cot can be added to this room and all bedding is smooth cotton. The fitted Shaker style kitchen has a large Butler style sink and real wood work surfaces and is well equipped for the keen cook. There is a fridge, dishwasher and freezer and a small breakfast bench with stools. The double aspect sitting room is light and sunny in summer and warm in winter with an oak floor and wood burning stove [first basket of logs provided]. There is a dining table and chairs and comfortable seating as well as a good selection of books, DVDs and board games and Freeview TV/ DVD player, CD player/radio etc for cosy nights in. The small courtyard has potted plants and flowers and a small table and chairs.There is also a useful covered and locked side entry for bikes and pushchairs.The information folder has details of the local area and amenities as well as sight seeing ideas and leaflets etc.

About the neighbourhood
Deal is a small friendly seaside resort ideal with good cafes, pubs and restaurants all near the cottage and the pebble beach and long promenade is only a 2 minutes walk. There are bargains to be had at the Saturday market and some interesting vintage and antique shops. The pier has panoramic views of the Goodwin sands and the large Leisure Centre - The Tides - has a swimming pool. The Astor Theatre has an interesting events programme and Deal hosts several artistic and musical events, has an Annual Summer Festival with a Regatta and Carnival Parade in August and there are regular Sunday concerts at the bandstand on Walmer Green. There is good fishing, walking and cycling nearby and 3 award winning golf courses in the area.
Getting around
Deal has a railway station near the town centre with links to London and towns along the coast. There is also a good local bus service and several taxi companies Bikes can also be hired for cycling along the coastal paths. There are also good links to the continent with the port of Dover being 8 miles away and the Channel Tunnel near Folkestone about 15 miles away.
